EV800D FPV Moggle Review - Its got Diversity and DVR now

Is this a good kit for a starter?

 First, the buttons are just a bunch of buttons in a row (interrupted by antennas) and I'm constantly pressing one by accident when I remove or wear the goggles. This isn't a huge issue, but slightly different button placement would eliminate this. Second, recording does make the goggles hot so I feel better ventilation or heat sinks would help. The audio recording does have a constant buzz but that may be my setup

There also isn't any button to switch between antennas so I don't know if these are really "diversity" or if that's just a term they used to sell more. Either way, the button placement keeps these at 4 stars for me

Bought these to match up to a Mobula 7. Being new to the hobby, I wanted to start with something cheaper to make sure I enjoy it before shelling out $500+ for "good" goggles. I meant to purchase the Eachine goggles but ended up getting what seem to be a knock-off branded as SoloGood. I realized it after they arrived and Amazon doesn't appear to carry the Eachine EV800D's so I decided to try them since they were in-hand

I would buy these again as an entry-level set of goggles to get into the hobby. I will "hand-me-down" these to my son when he gets interested or keep them as a spectator set.

They are worth the ~$100 for entry-level FPV

 The goggles come with a built-in 2-cell 1200 mAh battery, which is really awesome to have, but if you want an alternative, there's this cable it comes with, that allows you to connect an external lipo battery if you want. A super cool feature of these goggles is the fact that you can turn them into a monitor by removing the back part and sliding the monitor off. Probably the most important feature of these goggles is the DVR recording capability. You just press and hold this button over here and the recording will start and will capture whatever you're seeing in the goggles

 Forgot to add that at the bottom of the goggles, there's also a mounting hole for a tripod. If you really want to go next level with the monitor use, to show some curious kids what you're seeing when you fly. As a conclusion, if you're just entering the hobby and want a pair of cheap goggles with a great screen that aren't going to make you look like a rhino on the field, these are absolutely perfect. The signal is just as good as any Fat Shark goggles, I've actually tested it against a France Fat Shark V2, the goggles run on diversity after all and the signal is as good as it gets

 These are called the Ichin EV800D and they are packaged like this. But first you'll have to take the guts out of it, this being the charger adapter. Next there's a bag that you can use to carry the goggles with, which can actually prove to be pretty useful. Here is an omnidirectional antenna and the cable for the charger

 You can change the aspect ratio to 4 by 3 or 16 by 9 and the resolution of the goggles is 800 by 480. The fact that you can use it as a monitor seems very useful, especially in cases where you want to show other people how cool you're flying your drone. It also comes with a microSD slot that supports only up to 32 GB cards. Overall, I find these goggles to have a pretty small form factor compared to most other boxed ones on the market

Eachine EV800D review - Best cheap FPV goggles with DVR ...

I have 350 to spend on a FPV setup what would I buy as a beginner? Also it has to be able to fly outside.

These goggles arrived dead. Upon charging and powering up, only the blank white screen displays.

My suggestion would be something along the lines of a mobula 6 or 7, and for goggles the eachine ev800d. If you need a radio, go for the jumper t-lite. Yes, that combo is more expensive than a rtf kit, but it's also a lot nicer on goggles and radio than anything you can get in a kit. Don't forget about extra batteries, flying whoops with only one or two batteries is no fun

I've dabbled with drones over the years. I originally had a Syma S107G Helicopter (Before drones were much of a thing) and had a lot of fun with it. Eventually, the battery stopped holding a charge and can't be replaced without soldering so I moved on to a Hubsan X4 H107L. Despite being newer, I found this one slightly harder to control and not nearly as durable. I only crashed it a fraction of the times I crashed the Syma but eventually the gyro stopped working properly. I believe the board may have a hairline crack in it from one of the crashes.  


I'm now looking into getting another one and figured I'd try getting something with video this time. I'm not really interested in the videography aspect of it, more of a FPV/VR functionality and something I can have fun with both indoors and out. Not interested in racing; just fun. Durability and/or ease of repair is also important. Since this is just for fun, I'd rather it be reasonably priced so I can actually have fun with it without being afraid to use it.  


I've narrowed it down to 3 options:

**Eachine E511S** \- This one is mainly an outdoor drone but seems small enough that I might be able to fly it indoors with care. It has FPV functionality via the app and a phone VR headset (which I have). This works on Wi-Fi so I'm not sure how bad the latency will be.  


**Nikko Air Race Vision 220 FPV Pro** \- This one has everything I'd need in the box. However, the included headset display seems to have range issues but it does work with standard 5.8ghz goggles if I decided to upgrade. Outdoor capability is also questionable.  


**Hubsan X4 H107D** \- Weary of this one as it is a variant of the one I had before that I didn't really care for. However, reviews show it to have good performance both inside and outside. FPV goggles would need to be purchased separately.  


What do you folks think would be best for me? I'm open to other suggestions as well.

Best budget durable and fun drone

I wasn’t happy with the goggles that come with the rtf setup you can buy so I ended up getting these so I could record my flights. They come in much better, and the display is a little larger so that is nice. You can use up to a 32 GB microSD card, so you get plenty of record time. The padding feels nice and they fit great, while keeping tight so there is not a ton of light bleeding through

 One disadvantage as opposed to the th2 freestyle rtf kit goggles is that these do not have a fan at all, which I suppose could be an advantage when considering battery life. Also the battery is internal someplace so not sure if it is easy to replace, but it means you have to charge using the micro usb, and you cannot just use an 18650 charger instead. But for the price, these are a great pair of goggles for a beginner as myself.

Using with my TH2 freestyle, and they are GREAT.
