If your intended climb is close or at your limit, then cutting your weight is crucial. The weight of the rack could conceivably make a difference in whether you send or whip. Locking carabiners are an easy place to cut weight and bulk, which is why we love compact, lightweight locking carabiners. How many lockers you need on a climb is up to you, but only one or two of these at most needs to be larger pear or HMS style lockers, the rest can, and probably should, be lighter weight lockers. The DMM Phantom Screwgate is the lightest climbing rated locker we have ever used with no-fuss handling. 
As long as you aren't trying to belay or rappel with these as your main locker, we found virtually no downside to using them. With their small size, don’t expect to clip a bunch of other 'biners to them or count on them to hold multiple ropes or knots. However, they can do everything else you would need a locker for, all while weighing less and taking up far less harness space than a typical locker. Anyone who loves multi-pitch climbing and won’t settle for anything less than the best should be in the market for three or four of the DMM Phantom Screwgates.

 Small, lightweight, and seems sturdy so far. Screw gate stays closed as it should, and isn’t too hard to undo after putting under load. If you’re having trouble finding something that fits the Pirana, this will work.

I bought a couple of these to get the lightest, smallest lockers I could put on my harness.

They might not be the lightest on the market, but if they lose it's only by a gram or two.  I wouldn't want to belay off one of these, and it's a tight fit for a clove hitch, but these are perfect many places where a locker beats a wiregate.  Prussik, PAS, or that "don't fail me now" placement.

 But i do like that red bit. So we haven't got that. But it's a good little carabiner i find uh, it's really wide, it's wider than the the sentinel. It is like two grams heavier than the old sentinel, but for me the sort of payoff of the extra width is a bit of a no-brainer, so as i either lose or they get beyond their use by date on my harness, i will be replacing those so Actually, i said i was sad about them, stopping these

 Now this joke uh this joke this rope is a joker which is 9.1 and if i pull two clove itches sort of snug underneath there they do sit in there, but, as you can see only just this is a 9.1 like i said so. If you're using half ropes, you know it might be better off, but certainly with a rope chunkier than that, it's a real struggle to fit two clove hitches in so they're, not pressing on the gate and everything which we don't like with the newer phantom hms that I threw, over there same rope, obviously same clove, hitches a bit more space in the end uh

A boring climbing kit review: DMM Phantom HMS - Plus a small competition!

I purchased these for building anchors after using the Phantom HMS as a belay biner and loving it. These are a bit smaller than the HMS version and that is their only downside, but for the application of anchor building these work great. They are very light and the screw gate has a nice smooth operation. The picture shown is of the older screw gate, but the ones I received from MooseJaw were the updated version

So I've got a bit of tape on that because it's mine - I used this mainly with my tree climbing gear just as an accessory carabiner, because it's not as robust as some of the other kind of solid gate carabiners. So I don't use it for hanging, but I use it for hanging stuff, but I don't use it at banging life support things or on my hammock or anything like that, but yeah
