The last time I used them, on a steeper icy trail, all the screws pulled out of the base (turns out they're just wood screws screwed into the rubber treads, not the carbon tipped studs I'd mistaken them for) and I couldn't make it up the trail. I'm very disappointed by the quality and can't recommend them for anything but walks in the neighborhood.

They are one of a kind and are ideal for first time snow shoe-ers or anyone looking for a lighter weight alternative to traditional snow shoes while adventuring in the snow. These are much more flexible and forgiving than traditional snow shoes, which usually have a rigid frame or a rigid deck. That makes moving, playing and running in the snow much easier and more enjoyable, especially for beginners who aren't used to having rigid snow shoes strapped to their feet

 And at the end of their life the material here is actually recyclable through athletic shoe programs to boot. Underneath you have got hardened plastic cleats that dig into packed snow and ice to provide a lot more traction, while the rest of the shoe has tire like traction to keep you moving forward in powdery snow. The bindings are flexible and durable. They accommodate a wide variety of footwear and a wide range of sizes with the Velcro straps

So light weight, so much fun.

These are a incredible pair of snow shoes, very lightweight perfect for pack down trails. They have great grips on the bottom and the Velcro closures are super easy to get on and take off.

Regarding the binding in recreational settings, the velcro kept our feet secure on those adventures. The only problem I think you’ll run into is if the velcro strap gets full of snow. The strap is built of military-grade material to resist the snow and ice, but there is still the risk it might stop working. Although, this isn’t something we experienced in testing

But, since these shoes shouldn’t be used for floatation and in deep powder, you shouldn’t have to worry about snow in the velcro strap.

Good question! With downhill snow sports, the powder is the best kind of snow. The same is true for snowshoeing. Snowshoes were designed thousands of years ago to help you float on snow. That is their purpose

We recently had the opportunity to test and review the Crescent Moon Eva Foam snowshoes. These snowshoes are a foam top bonded to a plastic bottom with velcro-like straps for bindings. The crampons are integrated with the plastic bottom as snow spikes. If you compare these to typical aluminum frame snowshoes with steel bindings, these are definitely a little out of the box

The binding is fairly flexible, no matter how tightly you secure it. This is fine when walking or running on a packed trail because your heel will land in the middle of the snowshoes, which will be level on the ground. If you step off a packed trail into unbroken snow or powder, your heel has a tendency slide to the inside of the snowshoe so you’re on an unbalanced tilt.While the EVA All Foam snowshoes provide quite a lot of flotation on powder since they are 8″ x 24″, the tendency to pronate when not walking on packed snow is awkward
