Is the difference between an 80+ gold PSU and an 80+ bronze PSU really worth the difference in price?

. but no extension cables for SATA or anything useful like that.  The power supply itself seems to be fine, hasn't given me any issues, and is quiet, so from that perspective it's good.  I don't know if I got an open box and somebody pilfered cables, or they are really just that out of touch with their cable selections

 Hello and welcome to Tech Deals. Who should buy a 1000 watt power supply? What are the benefits? And if you don't need one, what else should you consider buying? Now in this video I have a Corsair RMX 1000 watt power supply. I will take this out of the box. I will show you the features of it, but before we do that I want to talk about the pros and cons of 1 kilowatt power supplies

 For example, the 850 watt version of this power supply turns it on at about 300 watts draw. So you're basically pushing the power consumption up before it has to turn the fan on. It is also worth noting on this particular unit that the fan barely turns above idle until you pass 700 watts of power draw. So even if you're pulling 5, 6, or even 700 watts of power, the fan on this is barely turning and really should be completely completely inaudible

 This does include a lot of cables which I'll detail here in a minute but in short if you're building a monster system this is a monster power supply. I have now taken all the cables out of the bag and boy does this thing have a lot of them. First of all we have an absolutely monster 24 pin ATX power cable. Now there is black sleeving on here because with 24 pins there's way too much to make it completely flat but it is flat black all the way to the end of the cable and then you can see here the 24 pin the 20 plus 4 that is very nice

 As far as graphics cards go, you can get up to about 250 to 300 watts of power on the top-end Nvidia cards and over 400 watts of power consumption on an RX Vega 64 liquid cooled, especially if you are overclocking it. Now add multiple graphics cards, hard drives, and other peripherals and that is why you should consider a 1000 watt power supply if you are building such a system. Another benefit to buying a power supply such as this is ultra low noise. This particular power supply does not even turn on the fan until you pull 400 watts of power

 I have worked with computers for over 30 years, most of that as an IT professional and I have NEVER heard a power supply as loud as this. (SEE UPDATE BELOW) So one has to question WHY is it so loud?  When I installed the SSD, I removed modifications I made to vent heat from the video card. After this change, the power supply has been running quietly with only a bit of a whirring noise when I am using heavy graphics. So, I am revoking my previous 3 stars and adding another star because it seems with the right PC config, the power supply operates at a reasonable noise level - even at a superior noise level when not doing heavy graphics.

This is my personal power supply that I use for my current 12900K build, but I also have this in another build at another house which is the 5950X build. I Keep going back to this power supply simply because it just never fails me. It's a very good power supply and it really lasts a long time

 Get this beautiful black and yellow box with 80 plus gold certified means that your power supply operates at 90% efficiency. We get the 10 years warranty which is really really amazing. and it's a full modular power supply which means that you use the cables that you want and you disregard the rest Anyway, we're going to pull things out a little bit and the first thing that we get is our main power unit. It's got this beautiful industrial fan to keep it cool, nothing remarkable on the bottom, and we've got the RM 1000 X logo on the side

 and you know this. This power supply operates very well within very specific heat tolerance levels which is really good to see and they've adjusted the fan curve as well for the most silent experience. Anyway, guys, we're gonna have a look at how it looks in our build so here it is beautiful and big! It powers all my little fancy lights and my computer. It's not loud, it doesn't fail me, It's very consistent and I really really prefer this power supply if you wanted to go for the more expensive RMI you can

 They're amazing and I've used them before. No fault aside from the fact that they are not as visually pretty and they don't bend as easy. It is slightly less efficient, but overall it is rated as having slightly higher performance and that's about all I Can tell you because again, this is not a professional review

 We've got our our ruler right here. It appears that this is 150 I'm sorry 186 millimeters which is 180 millimeters I'm sorry which is the length of the 2018 model. Now we'll measure it this way and that appears to be 150 millimeters which is the same as the 2018 model. And finally, we'll go this way

 Yes, right. So there are three of those. Found Some more Satyr in here, let's see right? So looks like four total Satyr cables. We've got our 24 pin for the motherboard, then we have our EPS cables, our 8 pin EPS cables for the CPU, and this power supply actually comes with three of them

I mean it's a good powersupply, but the cables are so stiff it makes it hard to cable manage in a tight case. I had to make some extremely tight and uncomforable bends (well, they're closer to folds than bends) so I wouldn't have cables jutting out of my motherboard. There's really thick black tape near the ends of the cables where it would probably be ideal to bend them, which is annoying, and the sleeving itself adds considerable bulk.  The plastic ends also were inconsistent in color
