I want to love this...

 It is pretty spendy for what amounts to crush basalt, I have never used this type of substrate in my freshwater tanks, but it came recommended, so time will tell.  I can see that you will have to have a good pump and filtration system because it came out of the bag with a "mucky" water, I am assuming it's just particulates from the crushing of the basalt.  I will update this review once my tank is cycled and I have had plants/fish in it for a while.

Bags are smaller that they appear- please read description to get a more accurate idea.

 I made that mistake and it spilled all over my floor. No big deal, though. Anyway, you need to let your aquarium cycle completely just like you would with any other aquarium.  The substrate itself consists of very small sand particles and small sized granules

00 250m bottle of Flourish, an aquatic plant fertilizer that I bought at Petsmart. It lasts for 2 years for the size of my aquarium, so it's a worthy investment.  My only complaint about this product is that it is kind of misleading when it says that it has beneficial bacteria in it to cycle your tank. Please don't take it like it will instantly cycle your tank

Good substrate, no big problems with it

2ppm but I am not sure if it was from the eco complete or from the new plants (new plants tend to die off a bit, so they can also cause ammonia spikes). I added some zeolite to my filter and the ammonia went away very quickly. I recommend having some on hand just in case, as well as Seachem's Prime conditioner. It is decently expensive
