 The LED panel is twice the price, alas, but I found it worthwhile given how much I use it. I highly recommend everyone to purchase one of the reputable light meters here on Amazon to take best care of yourself and to hold the manufacturers to account.

Seems to work, but clunky, not as bright as advertised, and UV protection is questionable.

 It's just a question of convenience and comfort.. If people like it will people use it And that's really the biggest issue with these devices., Especially on a daily basis and for long enough

. Both of them have a really easy on and off switch., Both of them hinge super easily from the base., And both of them were super durable

. You really want to go see a doctor make sure this is what you have and have them give a formal recommendation for what you should be doing.. These things can work

 One of the biggest problems with the lamps is compliance.. Do you use them Frankly, going outside is better if you can do it., But if you're in Wisconsin and it's January, this might not be so easy to do

Do SAD Lamps Actually Work?

  In 2022 you can buy a fairly low end LCD monitor for about the same price and get a svelte, strong, adjustable stand attached to it - not to mention the complex electronics of the monitor itself. It is disappointing that a box with the simple job of holding a few light bulbs doesn't even come close - mechanically or aesthetically - to commonplace products with similar size/shape/form.  Something this big and bulky is going to be impossible not to notice in a room, and unfortunately, that attention will be drawn to a fairly ugly piece of equipment. So, it (probably) does what it promises in terms of light delivery, but it sure doesn't bring any grace or elegance to the job

Bought this based on the Wirecutter recommendation, as well as the sibling "Sky Bright" model for comparison. I don't have a lux meter to verify it supplies the needed 10,000 lux but I'm willing to assume it does: It resembles a giant white-faced computer monitor. It's bright, but no brighter than the slightly smaller SkyBright.  Regardless, the overall design of this thing is pretty bad: ultra-cheap plastics all around and crunchy adjustments make it feel overpriced even at $100

 There is no effort to hide the cord which shoots off to the side for no obvious reason (really? can't the plug just be in the center?). When powered on, the front-facing diffuser reveals that at least a quarter of the surface area isn't even providing utility - note the wide, unlit border that does nothing more than take up space. Light = OK but overall design is poor

 The plastic is horrible, the adjustment mechanisms are loud, clunky, and the height adjust feels like it's breaking it. What looks like a metal frame is a thin textured plastic shell with a single piece of cheap steel for the base, which on my unit came broken off. It was a simple matter to screw it in anyway, but QC is clearly lacking.  I feel like the manufacturer is charging what they are because they know people pay more for medical devices, not because they put time and effort into making this product the best it can be

excellent lamp so far --just had issue with first delivery

 but it works and I haven't seen any other product that looks as good.  The height and angle adjustments are essential, IMO, to receive the light in the most effective & comfortable way. (I would hate a light shining up, into my eyes, which is the way many products are made.) I set it up in fall for the season and have my coffee in front of it every morning with a timer set for 25 min

 If it broke tomorrow, I would order another since I feel I've easily gotten my money's worth already.  I was not asked to write this review and have received nothing for it.
