Canon Mf743cdw

I'm looking at these two models, as well as the Canon MF743Cdw. The Canon has significantly better reviews on Rtings than the MFC-L3770CDW as far as the quality of color printing. Of course it is also a higher "tier" of printer with a higher price tag. On Rtings, there is a pretty definite "progression" in terms of color image quality as you move farther up the stack - for example the Canon MF644Cdw is obviously worse than the MF743Cdw, and the Brother HL-3270CDW is obviously worse than the MFC-L3770CDW.

First off, I like this printer. I would give it 3.5 starts, if I could. When it works, it works great. We are not heavy printers, but we scan everything then shred. Some, but not all, laser printers will handle 176 gsm (65 lb cover, 46 lb bond) cardstock. - The Canon Color imageCLASS MF743Cdw supports duplex printing from all trays (bypass, main tray, and optional paper feeder) on paper as heavy as 200 gsm (75 lb cover). - The HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M479fdw uses the same underlying print engine as the aforementioned Canon machine, but I'm seeing conflicting information on supported media weights (they appear to be 200 gsm simplex and 163 gsm duplex).

Personally, I like and have a Color ImageCLASS MF743Cdw, duplex printer and copier and scanner(duplex), very quiet, 28 pages/min print speed, Clone toners are really cheap. Priced right, find them on sale.

This printer is great for printing - fast, great images. However, if you want to scan or copy, don't use the document feeder. The images are crooked most of the time and the scanned images have a black border on the left edge and the bottom edge.
