Yes. EOS Rebel SL1 with a couple lenses is definitely worth it for $50. Go get it as soon as possible, before someone else snagged it. From sensor wise, it is pretty much the same as the famous Rebel T2i.

I would say look into a Canon 40D or 50D if you want tough cameras, or maybe Rebel T2i's or Rebel SL1's. Get a bunch of cheapo 18-55's to go with them. Make room for spare bodies and lenses in case you need to switch them out. I have IT colleagues in K-12, and the things these kids do to school-provided electronics is fucking ridiculous.
