Bontrager Rapid Pack

After a ton of research I bought a Bontrager Rapid Pack. It’s $60.

The rear is divided into 3 sections and neither side pocket will hold even a small mini pump so one needs to rely 100% on CO2 cartridges if there is a flat.

I use a Bontrager hip pack. It can hold one water bottle. Combined with the water in my cage, I usually have enough.

Holds my tools and phone pretty well without having a sweaty back.

This is a very sleek waist pack that really hugs your body. Perfect for a very short ride when you just want to bring a couple tools, CO2 inflator and your phone. I have a Bontrager rapid pack. It doesn’t have a water bladder just a spot for a water bottle but I love it. It’s pretty minimal but it’s just the right size for my tools, phone, keys, and a snack.

I have used this twice so far and like it more than I thought I would. This is a great minimalist hip pack. As other have noted, the upright water bottle position makes it awkward to access the bottle while peddling. But I rarely drink while peddling anyway, even with hydration packs...so no big dea...

Most of my rides are <2hrs, so I don't bother with a pack and instead use a small hip pack that's just large enough to hold tools, wallet, etc., and has a sleeve for a spare water bottle (Bontrager Rapid Pack). I do have an Osprey pack I've used for longer rides and rides with kids where I need to carry more crap, and have been pretty happy with it.

I was previously using a 1L pack that had no room for a water bottle, which worked for rides under 90 minutes or so. I wanted something that could carry a bottle, so I could do 2-3 hour rides with two bottles (one in pack, one on frame).

Great pack for shorter mountain bike rides. It fits a multi tool, CO2 cartridge, phone and keys. I don’t even notice I have it on most of the time. Worth every cent.

You will struggle to fit enough supplies in this pack to cover you for a half-day ride, even if you have a bottle cage on your bike. This pack is best-suited as a secondary pack for short rides, assuming you have a larger, roomier hip pack or backpack for those epics. Read the full review: Bontrager Rapid Pack
