The best terrain for these skis in my experience was the trees, the groomers and even the little bit of bumps that we got into.

**Afternoon ski:** ***Blizzard Sheeva 9 164***. I liked these quite a bit. They were nearly effortless to ski, and seemed to know what my body needed them to do. They were also very nimble in both powder and bumps.

Take a look through this guide if you haven't already: recommend the Salomon QST 106, Elan Ripstick 106 and Blizzard Sheeva 10.

Also, theres no reason to haul more ski uphill than you have to. I would look at slightly wider skis, they will be easier and more fun in whatever weird three dimensional snow that you might encounter while touring. The Blizzard Sheeva 9 comes in a 146 or a 157 and would be okay for both up and down but It might be on the heavy side.

It looks like you’re in Alberta, so… I assume mostly the Rockies? I might go a little thicker underfoot than 86mm in those conditions. Off the top of my head I would suggest Blizzard Sheeva 9, Nordica Santa Ana (either 93/99), JSkis Allplay, or Coalition Snow SOS. Looks like the indie brands are sold out now but they’ll be back in stock by end of summer.

I wasn't able to find all the models she suggested I demo, but I did try a couple, gave her feedback on what I liked and didn't like, and ultimately she steered me towards a ski I hadn't demoed but that she thought would suit me based on my reactions to the others. I bought the Blizzard Sheeva 9.
