I need help with summer rain gear. I hike Arkansas &amp; Tennessee primarily. I currently have the Marmot Minimalist but I have never been satisfied with it. Used it on the Eagle Rock Loop a few weeks ago and sweated out.  Heavy and a hardshell. I just got a gossamer gear styled umbrella to try but I realize strong wind might make it useless. What lightweight options are working for everyone? I am thinking a dwr treated wind shirt maybe or poncho?  Definitely, no more gore-tex.

Lightweight raingear

 I think it's best used where conditions are variable or when traveling fast and light in the mountains. The fit is slim, so bulky layers underneath won't work with this jacket.

You get what you pay for…

Black diamond Stormline - 2 layer with pit zips, wire brim, and very packable. Relatively trim fit designed for climbers but unlike most membrane jackets (exception of OR ascent shell ones) it's stretchy and doesn't feel like a plastic bag.

Hey, I have started the hunt for a new rain jacket. I've used the North Face Leonidas 1 jacket for years and it's been great for all my travels so far but it's been discontinued for years now. It's starting it's slow demise with tape pulling and DWR becoming less DWR-y. 

Basically I'm looking for another 2 or 2.5 layer rain jacket. Outdoor oriented, hood, zipper pockets, the whole thing. I've found the Helly Hansen Nari which seems like a close replacement but haven't found an actual user review so am a little hesitant. Any ideas are appreciated, TIA.

The issue I have with it when the rain gets heavier the sleeves become soaked. I do hike a lot in the mountains and their prone to a lot of rainstorms in the summer months

I love some recommendations for jackets from $100-175. I am looking into the Patagonia Torrentshell as one of my options.

I got this to be my all around rain jacket. From walking to the store when it is raining  to hiking 14ers with a helmet on. There are three main reason why I went for this brand and model. 1

Lightweight, packable, but hood too big

Purchased 4 different rain jackets at once (Salomon Explore, Black Diamond StormLine, Outdoor Research Apollo, Mountain Hardwear Stretch Ozonic). I wanted something that would perform dual duty of repelling rain during biking / hiking, as well as look good as a basic jacket when commuting in the city. This jacket seems high quality but has a very loose / baggy fit. I'm 5'6" and went with size Small in all 4 jackets

 Fabric feels very waterproof but not a lot of stretch. Probably great performance for heavy moisture, but too baggy to wear casually and without layers underneath.
