And the new model has a digital dial, not the blinking light pattern to indicate stud location

I bought this model - a 2018 model change from the older version - because I temporarily misplaced my 2014 model. Like the other reviewers, I note that this new model has no convenient, sturdy, zipped close black carrying case. It is also a smaller unit than the older model, which may be a plus, but was $20 more, and does not have as many accessories to assist with centering/wall marking as the older unit. The older model is powered by a 9v battery, the new one by two AA batteries

 For the difference in price, the older model was a far better product value, and the new model, a disappointment. For me, the brighter red laser in the old model makes a difference in wall marking when working in a room with sunlight or floodlight lighting, and the sturdy carrying case with the old model has kept the kit together well over the years.
