The Beyerdynamic M160 has a strong presence with a boost in the upper mids and smooths out harsh attack well.

To wrap up, would I recommend the Beyerdynamic M160 double ribbon microphone? Oh my gosh! Double ribbon!

It’s the industry standard for a reason. Next, I would think about getting some nice ribbon microphones. The Beyerdynamic M160 sounds smooth and is fantastic on saxophone, acoustic guitar, guitar cabinets, even as drum overheads - mind you, they are pretty directional, so be careful when positioning them.

Seconding ribbons. The Beyerdynamic M160 if it’s a live recording (or want your result to sound dry, it’s hypercardioid), Royer 121 if it’s solo.

Look for an old Mackie 1604(not the VLZ) or a Roland m120/M160. These mixers all sound great, have lots of channels & can be driven hard for breakup(awesome distortion)

This is a great mic. When I first got it I tried it at various distances on a cranked guitar amp. The mic is legendary for a reason.
