Bataleon Thunder Review | Best Snowboards  2020/2021

 First, Battalion brought the storm. Now, they're bringing the thunder. After the success of

 the women's all-mountain freeride snowboard, they've sized one up for the men. This is

 a purpose-built powerhouse, one that's equally at home both on and off the piste.

 Compared with some of Battalion's more powder-specific shapes, the Thunder actually looks pretty

 ordinary. It's a twin outline right up to the contact points with a touch of extra volume

 in the nose. However, the stance is set back and comes with these additional backseat inserts

 when you want some extra volume up front for those super deep days.

 Where Battalion set themselves apart is in their triple base technology, and that's the

 real star of the show here. There's a directional element to the Thunder's profile. You have

 this narrow center base flanked by these uplifted side bases, especially in the nose of the

 board, combined with a full aggressive tip-to-tail camber. What does all that do? Well, simply

 put, it makes just about every aspect of riding better. In powder, the profile pushes snow

 out from underneath like the hull of a ship to plane along the surface. When things become

 tracked out or choppy, the sidekicks here offer you a really stable and predictable

 turn initiation, and when you're back on piste, you've got a board that really bites

 into the groomers but lets you get away with murder where other boards may hook up around

 the contact points. This is a bit of a wolf in sheep's clothing. Underneath the top sheet

 is a core packed with performance. Battalion aren't ones for making super stiff snowboards,

 but the Thunder definitely sits on the stiffer end of their rating. Carbon stringers are

 added to the board's tail to increase the overall pop, while they're used in the nose

 of the snowboard to dial up the response at the start of every turn. There's also two

 hollowed out carbon rods running along the sidewalls, and they provide some extra snap

 to the snowboard's already aggressive camber. All of this is sandwiched between a lively

 poplar and polonia core, responsive tri-axe fiberglass layers, finished off with a rapid

 sintered base. The Thunder clearly knows where its strengths lay, but it's amazing how a

 board this uncompromising in its performance can still feel so forgiving to ride. It's

 a combination that makes it perfect for all mountain freeriding, and one that rarely works

but need some help.. what is the best board for East Coast riding.. 

i dont do tricks, i dont go in parks.. i just go downhil and sometimes in the woods.. i just enjoying carving and cruising.

price not a concern as this will last me a long time.

hear i shoud consider burton custom.. any other recommendations.. i'm really look for the best freeride board for east coast (i.e. shitty conditions.. ice etc..)

 You notice that right away. You're really going to push into it, kind of muscle it, and it's going to rebound and snap back up. When you get sideways, the camber profile takes over. It locks in

 You don't have to worry about it. You can get sideways. It's elevating that contact point, so you don't have to worry about your edge hooking either. This board actually butters really well for how it's built with its camber profile and its carbon array

 Is that what it's for? No, but can I handle it? Yes. All right, so this is a more robust board, but it's got these flex points right outside the insert pack, so when you leverage your weight in a butter, it activates super smoothly, and then the 3BT in the sidekick takeover, so you've got this scooped out section in the nose and the tail that just let you swivel and sizzle. You don't have to worry about it. You can get sideways

The 2023 Bataleon Thunder Snowboard Review

 Hello snowboarders of the internet, I'm your host, Avron LaFever, and in this video we're

 going to be reviewing the Bataleon Thunder.

 They're kind of all mountain powder board.

 This board features Bataleon's high camber with 3BT technology and sidekick.

 High camber, basically a ton of old school traditional camber from contact point to contact

 What the 3BT does is it scoops out the nose as well as the sidekick in there, so you got

 an elevated contact point that's going to help with ease of entry in and out of powder

 turns as well as a more fluid power transmission from edge to edge.

 It also kind of scoops it out for if you're pow buttering and what not.

 This board is available in 154, 156, 156 wide, 158, 159 wide, 161, and 162 wide.

 I rode this board at Copper Mountain on a day that had 5 to 8 inches of fresh powder,

 there was more snow falling, gray skies, low to high winds depending where you were.

 You had some chopping chunder around the mountain, you had powder corduroy, and I rode it with

 my Rome Black Label bindings and my K2 Thraxis boots.

 The overall flex of this board does come in just past a middle of the road all mountain

 flex, but there are key defined flex points right outside and inside the inserts.

 This changes the whole dynamic of how this board actually rides, and it kind of adds

 Now when it comes to stability, I was on the wide so that definitely helps, but you have

 such an abundance of camber that this board is very smooth and stable.
