Atomic Hawx Ultra XTD 130 Boots

 Hey everyone, this is Sean Kennedy with Atomic, and we are with Backcountry Skiing Canada

 in Alta, Utah, kicking off our 2020-2021 collection.

 Here we have the all-new Hawx Ultra Extended 130.

 This boot comes with our all-new Mimic liner, so what that means is a fully heat-moldable

 liner in addition to the memory fit shell, 54 degrees range of motion with adjustable

 forward lean on here as well, and a full grip lock sole coming in at just over 1400 grams.

 They will be on shelves in 2020, check them out.

 So with the all-new Mimic liner and the Ultra Extended 130, still have a nice little flex

 zone to get that full 54 degrees range of motion, but the best feature of this liner

 is that it is fully heat-moldable with the memory fit process, so you can heat-mold the

 entire shell and liner of this boot, including the tongue, it does it all, and it's in again

What’s the best way to test the flex at home? 

I’m 6’0, 175#, 32. Intermediate-Advanced. Haven’t been able to ski as much the last few years, 0-3 days per year, but still comfortable on blacks at places like Jackson Hole, Breck, Copper. 

Is 100 too soft? Can I test it at home before I take the boots into the wild?

How to test boot flex?

 You just flip that up and away you go. Both of them have a grip walk sole with tech fittings. So grip walk, if you look really carefully here, has some rocker to it whereas a traditional ski boot it's absolutely straight here. So this will fit into a grip walk binding, any grip walk binding, whereas it will not fit into an older non-grip walk style bindings

Atomic Hawx 130/120 Comparison

 Hey this is Gary Ginn from Helm of Sun Valley in San Mateo, California.

 helm-sport.com and in this video I want to go over the

 Atomic Hawks XTD. This happened to be the

 120 models. The XTD is their backcountry Hawks

 which means it has a device here you flip up and the upper cuff moves back

 that's going to be more for an average width foot whereas they did

 not have this in the 1920 season. This is a new one

 last is going to fit a C to a D width foot and then the Ultra

 which has been around for a few years now, that's going to a 98mm last

 and that's going to fit a B to a C width kind of foot. Little bit

 narrow foot, little bit lower volume foot. Other than that they are both

 extremely similar. I noticed that the Prime

 has a Velcro power strap whereas the Ultra

 has a buckle type power strap. There's not a big difference

 there. The buckles are exactly the same.

 The mechanism to release it into walk mode are both

 exactly the same. You just flip that up and away you go.

 with tech fittings. So grip walk, if you look really

 carefully here, has some rocker to it whereas a traditional ski boot

 it's absolutely straight here. So this will fit into a grip walk

 binding, any grip walk binding, whereas it will not

 fit into an older non-grip walk style bindings.

 Prior to about five years ago, four or five years ago, don't quote me on that,

 bindings were not set up for grip walk at all because there was no grip walk.

 So this one will not fit into that style binding.

 Obviously it will fit into a tech binding so it has pins here

 and obviously a set up for pins in the heel too.

 Very lightweight, I don't know the grams on it. This is a heat moldable

 liner. Both of them are heat moldable liners and shells. So you

 throw it in the oven, put your foot back in it and does some additional

 tailoring to your foot. They both have the new mimic

 liner which is brand new from Atomic. It's supposed to do a better

 heat it up more times than you could on the older one.

 A couple things about the buckle here. It has these special

 little devices here to retain the bale when

 you put it into the ladder so that when the buckle is open and you're

 touring it's not just going to fall out. And then also too you have these little

 slides which are somewhat unique in boots. This kind of

 slides on there. That also increases the effective

 that. You can change forward, lean a little

 bit on these guys. You unscrew these screws. This slides up and down and that will change

 the angle with which you stand during the
