ASUS XT8 mesh system with wired backhaul. It comes as pair so i added my existing GTAC5300 to the mesh. They all are tri-band. So, I have router on each floor and they provide coverage for my entire home including the backyard.

When it's working, this is a good router. The signal is strong and has a pretty good reach, extending well beyond the walls of our 2,700, 2-story home. I just implemented Asus ZenWifi XT8's for this reason - you don't have to use the cloud to manage them and they actually come with a lifetime license for Trend Micro AiProtection which is built-in (don't need an Internet connection to access and control it). Asus recommends plugging directly into an ISP router, but I have mine behind a firewall instead. Works fantasticly, supports WiFi 6 (802.11ax) and is AX6600 (lots of throughput). It also uses a separate radio for backhaul and supports ethernet backhaul as well -- each option increases the amount of dedicated connectivity bandwidth to connecting WiFi clients.

The XT8 is connected to the GT-AX11000 via cat6 cable (wired backhaul) and I’m pretty happy with the performance and the reliability so far (I’ve had them for a year). The only thing I don’t like is the gaming look of the GT-AX11000, I hope Asus will release something a little more pleasing look-wise in the future (something like an XT8 but with at least 5 lan ports in the back would be great!).

The main router frequently disconnects and drops all internet connection and starts to flash it’s red led. This is extremely cumbersome and occurs multiple times a day.
