OK, then it's barely fine -- plug in once, never touch the connection again, everything's behind the iMac. But you don't get much flexibility in exactly how you arrange that hard drive behind your iMac

..  BUT suppose your goal is you want a faster connection to your iPad Pro? Now we have a problem. The cable can JUST be sneaked around under the iPad screen to reach an iPad sitting in front of the iMac, but it's a tight fit, and the iPad is forced to be too close to the keypad to feel comfortable

 I see the iPad backup+file transfer that runs at 40MB/s over the Apple USB-C to USB-C cable (which is just a charging cable, with USB-2 performance) now runs at 160MB/s, so that's nice! And, if you're worried about that, yes, the iPad does charge while the backup/transfer is happening. BUT, like I said, the cable is just too short to feel comfortable. If I were to do it again, I'd look at my options and buy a longer option.  I rated the cable at 2 stars for durability

Let me warn you that, for MOST PURPOSES, this cable is probably too short to be comfortable. it works, yes, and they aren't lying about the length or the performance, but you may look at that number and think "eh, 1.5 feet, they probably tested this and chose a number that's broadly useful". No it's not, it is just too short for many purposes

It is a strong, fast Thunderbolt 3 too short cable

I should have known something was wrong when using Bluetooth caused my Thunderbolt drive to unmount. Over time, I started having issues which I traced to the Thunderbolt drive. I replaced the cable with an Xcellon from B&H (to avoid possible counterfeiting) and had no trouble after - I can even use Apple Pay over Bluetooth now! So either the “Anker” cable wasn’t really from Anker, or it has lousy shielding and durability.

Failed within one year

The connector had too much insulation and would not properly plug in all of the way. I had to file down the insulation around the connector so that it would plug in far enough to properly work. Other than that it seems pretty good quality and works well enough.

 I don't know if the cable itself is dependendable or not (hence not a 1 star), but for the price and considering the length of it, I'm sure they're selling it as a portable cable to people. Having such cheap plastic finish on a portable product is a huge no-no from a consumer goods company that also sells woven cables.

 I'm sure you know what I mean, all you have to do is dig up any old tech product made in the 90s that had the same rubbery plastic on it. It's disgusting. I don't know if the cable itself is dependendable or not (hence not a 1 star), but for the price and considering the length of it, I'm sure they're selling it as a portable cable to people. Got it "Used - Like New" from Anker Direct store on Amazon. It came extremely sticky, to the point that I can attach it to a wall, if I wanted to.
