If all you are looking for is a bare-bones USB 3.0 hub, the Anker 4-Port is a solid choice. The concept of this hub is simple - just plug it in, and you're transferring data at the USB 3.0 standard of 5Gbps. The Anker 4-Port is most definitely missing some bells and whistles. Other USB 3.0 hubs in our review include power buttons for each port or are even capable of charging larger devices such as phones and tablets. Still, this model works for those looking for a simplistic way to expand to several ports from a single USB 3.0 port.

 I use my other laptop USB connection for my external hard drives. I haven't tried the hub with my external hard drives because I've read in other reviews that it doesn't work, and I don't want to risk messing up my external hard drives. I tried the hub with my DVD player, but my computer couldn't read a DVD through the hub. The player was getting power, was making some noises, but the DVDs wouldn't play

 If I get a call, I have to unplug something to plug in my mic. If I want to use my own keyboard for typing instead of the built-in one, I have to unplug something. If I want to watch a DVD while working, I have to unplug something so I can plug in the DVD player. If I want to copy something from one external hard drive to another, I have to unplug my mouse and use that annoying built-in flat rectangular mouse-substitute thing that never works right

Why do laptops have only two USB connections, anyway???

 I haven't benchmarked it, but I assume it can handle USB 3.0 speeds since it's Anker-branded, and their products usually at least meet their specs. I hope that the actual ports are durable brand-name ports, since this is the kind of device that you may plug and unplug from many times.  It'd be nice if it could handle higher currents, even though the USB 3

0 standard only calls for 900mA for non-charging ports. Overall, besides the flimsy feel, I have no significant complaints, and the price is okay when taking into consideration that Anker is a real brand.

My main complaint about this device is that I feel like it would break into pieces if someone sat on it. It's made out of very light and presumably flimsy plastic. I haven't benchmarked it, but I assume it can handle USB 3.0 speeds since it's Anker-branded, and their products usually at least meet their specs

This is nice and small , easy for home or travel. I got it to plug in a second Epson scanner and it works perfectly.

A very good product except it cannot handle a hard drive   wireless mouse and keyboard at the same time.

 I’m very impressed with the level of customer service they provide and how much they made me feel like I wasn’t just another support ticket in a long line of support tickets (which let’s be real, I definitely was). I have a few Anker products already, because I had heard good things about their quality, but they will be my go to brand for the products they sell from now on because of their amazing customer service. I feel so much more relaxed buying a product that I will most likely be using in my daily workflow knowing that if anything goes wrong, I don’t have to get a headache arguing with a company to get it replaced or having to buy another product outright when warranty periods should still be in effect. I highly recommend Anker

 They got back to me in under 12 hours and asked for the SN on the device and my mailing address. They immediately sent me out a replacement product that arrived in 2 days and told me not to worry about sending the broken product back and to recycle it if possible. I was super impressed by the ease and speed that they remedied the problem and considered the service ticket to be closed. Then a few weeks later they sent me another email, just to make sure that the replacement was working properly and to make sure I didn’t have any other concerns

 Do your future self a favour and buy an Anker product if it’s something you need. Hopefully you won’t need their customer support, but if you do this is the company you want to deal with.

 Anker made sure that it was as little of an inconvenience to me as they possibly could and then went above and beyond to make sure that I was satisfied with the service they provided. That’s something that’s worth any extra cost (not that their products aren’t already competitively priced) over a cheap version of the same item from some no name seller on here. Do your future self a favour and buy an Anker product if it’s something you need. Hopefully you won’t need their customer support, but if you do this is the company you want to deal with
