I have an amazon fire 7 1st gen, obviously no more updates are available to this one, and the only reason i replace it was the poor performance with MKV HD videos. so expect more or less the same depending on wich device you pick. if you need something full of updates get a windows or linux device.

To tablet, or not to tablet. That is the question...

I have used an Amazon Fire 7 for streaming movies, e-mail, e-books and general web surfing. It’s great for Kindle versions of travel guide books and local history. It is small and light and very cheap ($35) so there’s less concern with breakage, loss or theft.

The video playback and speed are good. And image quality is good too, as well is picture quality with the camera. Its super lightweight and it came with a free trial to prime. There are some good Chinese tablets if you know what to look for but you have to be good at reading specs. The safest, best cheap tablet is the Amazon Fire tablet and then Google how to add the Google Play Store to it.

I whole-heartedly recommend the Amazon Fire tablets. They’re hella cheap and perfect for media consumption.

Plus you can use a program to easily remove Amazon junk and make them pretty much stock(ish) Android with Play Store access.
