It was sturdy enough for both a human tester and a dog to sit on, held up to our durability test well, and is simple to clean with a hose when it gets dirty. While the set-up process is best completed with two people, once set up, it is easy to move around the house and yard as needed. 
The main issue we had with the Amazon Basics bed is that its utilitarian, simple looks aren't going to win many folks over. It also lacks many color options. Although there is a large range of sizes to best suit your dog, if you're particular about how you decorate your home or backyard, you might find the options lacking. Also, because of its tricky set-up, it's not one that you would want to pack up and move frequently. If you get the larger sizes with hopes of travel, this model will be more difficult &mdash; a size Medium required the seats of a Subaru Forester to be folded down to fit. That being said, if you are not too picky when it comes to color, this model will treat both you and your furry friend to a durable bed for use outdoors to keep your dog cool or indoors for a nap &#40;we even tried it with a soft bed on top with great success&#41; at a very reasonable price. 

The Amazon Basics Cooling Elevated Bed is an excellent bed for outdoor use. The vinyl-coated mesh canopy is cooling and comfortable to lay on without an extra blanket. This elevated bed is terrific for hot, dry climates, allowing airflow to circulate up and through the bed's bottom. The metal frame and mesh cot will not get moldy in humid climates, although it could rust around the pole seams. This bed especially comes in handy for rainier months, keeping your dog off the wet or muddy ground. It's also an excellent choice for elevating an interior dog bed for big dogs with joint mobility issues. It comes in a relatively wide range of sizes that can fit just about any dog &mdash; and it's less expensive than a lot of the competition.
The tight weave used to make the Amazon Basics Elevated Bed is soft and smooth but holds on to water easily. We had to dump puddles off its surface before convincing our canine tester to use the bed after monsoons in the mountains of Southwest Colorado. The feet slide around hardwood floors and decking more than the competition, so using it as an elevating platform indoors requires a mat or something extra to keep it in place. The feet work best on solid ground like a patio or balcony for outdoor use &mdash; we found that the weight of an 80-pound dog was enough to push the feet into the soft earth after rain. Also, keep the hex key &#40;provided&#41; close because this bed needs tightening after several weeks of use. Overall, we found that this elevated bed's pros outweigh the cons, and we're stoked about its high value.

Great bed but no bolts

 For a human I wouldn't rate it as soft, but I don't think this is really supposed to be super soft. It is taut and supports my dog's weight well, it is softer than laying on a floor. She will grab a chew item and go lay on the bed to chew on it. I got it mainly to train the go on behavior

My box had a tear in it on arrival, and it didn't have a hex key in the box, not sure if it was supposed to or not. Not an issue because I have hex keys, but if you don't have tools you might want to verify that it comes with the hex key to put it together

My dog loves to be outside unless it's winter, so I got him this bed to stay outside and get him off the ground. It's easy to clean, doesn't soak up water, and he uses it, which - as picky as he is - seems like a thumbs up. Not incredibly sturdy so don't know how long it will really last but I'll put it away all winter and we'll see how it does outside all next summer.
