The inner mesh lining allows sweat to be wicked away, keeping you dry and comfy, and the outer shell protects from wind and even light rain showers.
Still, we found that the Essentials Linear isn't quite up to the task when put up against truly inclement weather like heavy rains and intense winds, which are a little too much for this light layer to handle. Still, for average daily use where some breezy weather or light rain is to be expected, this jacket is a great choice. If you'll be doing a lot of upper-arm intensive activities like climbing or hiking, the shoulder fit might prove to be a little tight, depending on your body shape. The pocket design seemed to be an afterthought, and we're less than impressed with their design. They're small, don't close, and the way they were designed upwards catches the rain. They work as a hand rest, but we didn't trust our smartphones to stay secure in them.
