The Lepow Z1 Gamut is the best portable monitor for laptop use for content creators. It's an okay overall monitor, and what makes it stand out versus other portable monitors is its color gamut. It has perfect coverage of the sRGB color space used in most web content and decent coverage of the Adobe color space used in photo editing. However, the coverage is still limiting if you're a professional photo editor, so it's better to get a proper monitor for the most accurate colors.

You can connect the monitor to your PC or your main monitor using the Mini HDMI connection or one of the two USB-C inputs. One of the USB-C inputs supports DisplayPort Alt Mode, allowing you to display an image from a compatible source and charge the device at the same time. However, the power output of this monitor is only 5W which isn't enough to charge a laptop. The gradient handling is fantastic with minimal banding as it supports a 10-bit signal.

Unfortunately, despite the fantastic color gamut, the out-of-the-box accuracy is disappointing, so you'll need to calibrate it to use it to its full capabilities. It also doesn't get bright enough to fight glare in well-lit rooms, but it at least has great reflection handling. For a portable monitor, it's a good choice for content creators.

If you aren't a gamer and want to save money on a portable monitor for work use, then the Dell C1422H is a good choice as an upper mid-range option. You don't get the same 240Hz refresh rate as on the ASUS ROG Strix XG17AHPE, which is why it isn't as good for gaming. Instead, it's very similar to the ASUS ProArt PA148CTV because it has the same 14-inch screen and 1080p resolution and has two USB-C ports, but it doesn't have a touch screen or Micro-HDMI input. However, that doesn't make much of a difference if you aren't going to use either.

It's an okay overall display with good picture quality for a portable monitor. Each of its USB-C ports support DisplayPort Alt Mode, and if you have it connected to a 90 W charger, the monitor supports 65 W of power delivery which is good for keeping your laptop's battery going while working. The accuracy before calibration is good, and it has perfect coverage of the commonly-used sRGB color space, so colors look good while scrolling through the web or looking at documents.
