Over the past couple of years, Lectric bikes has quickly grown into one of the biggest names in e-bikes with their popular XP models. This reasonably priced folding bike nearly qualifies for the budget category, yet it performs as well or better than many more expensive competitors. The Lectric XP Step-Thru 2.0 is an updated version of the original XP with several minor changes intended to improve the bike's performance. Our test bike arrived fully assembled in its compact, folded position, so all we needed to do was unfold it and lock the frame and handlebar in place to get it ride-ready. This powerful little model has a 500W &#40;800W peak&#41; motor and it is quick to accelerate using the throttle and it can support speeds up to 28 mph using pedal assist. It ships in Class 2 settings with a 20mph top speed, but it can also be configured Class 1 and Class 3. The removable 460Wh &#40;48v 9.6ah&#41; battery is hidden within the frame and gives the XP a very respectable distance range and a clean design. The Step-Thru version we tested has a very low frame that makes it easy to get on and off the bike, with a recommended user height range of 5'0" to 6'4". Girthy 3-inch wide knobby tires provide a bit of dampening and help expand the bike's versatility to a wider range of surfaces. It also comes with a quality user interface and features like fenders, lights, a cargo rack that can support up to 75 lbs.
There's a lot to like about the Lectric XP, but we do have a couple of gripes. The bike's folding design and small, 20-inch wheel diameter directly influence the bike's handling. While it performs well for a folding model, it can't quite match the stability or steady handling of non-folding models with larger wheels. Despite its small size and folding convenience, this bike still weighs 62+ lbs, so carrying it up a flight of stairs or putting it in the trunk of a car can be somewhat awkward and challenging. That said, we feel this affordable, versatile, and powerful folding model is an excellent value.

The smaller battery on the XP 2.0 means it has a below-average range compared to models with larger batteries. The smaller wheels and tall handlebar do make its handling feel a little nervous. However, it has a tight turn radius that makes it easier to maneuver through small spaces, and we never felt uncomfortable on this bike, even at its top speed. It becomes quite compact when folded, but despite its small size, it still weighs 61 pounds, and lifting it into a trunk or carrying it up a flight of stairs can still be a challenge. Regardless, we feel this affordable folding model is a great option for those who are short on storage or want a compact e-bike they can take anywhere.

Our testers unanimously agree that the Lectric XP 2.0 is award-worthy. It covers the most important bases very well, with a respectable range, great ride quality, and best-in-class power. It is Class 2 and Class 3 capable, and we hit 28 mph in the highest pedal-assist mode in its Class 3 settings, impressing with its 500-watt motor. A suspension fork and 3-inch wide knobby tires provide a smooth ride over varied surfaces, and a large range of fit ensures that users of varying heights can ride comfortably. It also comes with included features like integrated lights, fenders, and a cargo rack. Assembly is a piece of cake, too, and the large, integrated display screen keeps your speed, distance, and other data available at a moment's glance. Lectric manages to offer this bike at a very reasonable price, and we feel it is an excellent value.
The XP 2.0 falls a little short of the competition in the range department due to its moderately sized 460.8 Wh battery. Only using the throttle &#40;no pedaling&#41;, we only got 20.7 miles down our range test track. We expect to go even further, though, by utilizing the pedal-assist modes. Despite its space-saving folding design, it still weighs over 60 pounds, meaning that it can still be a challenge to move around or load for transport. Still, electric bikes are expensive, and if you want to pay significantly less than average while getting above-average performance, the Lectric XP 2.0 is our recommendation.

It has a very wide range of fit, plus it comes in step-through &#40;tested&#41; and step-over frames and two colors to suit your needs or preferences.
The XP 2.0 is a fantastic folding model, but the smaller wheels can't quite match the more composed handling or stability of models with larger wheels. It's also fairly heavy at 61 lbs and 10 oz, so, despite its small collapsed size, it can still be challenging to lift or carry. Otherwise, we feel you'd be hard-pressed to find a better folding electric bike, especially at this price.

Best for Most

The Ancheer Folding is a quality folding e-bike with impressive value. While it can't quite compete with more traditional non-folding models in terms of ride quality, it performed surprisingly well across all of our other rating metrics and tests. It arrives mostly assembled with minimal setup required, and it can easily be folded to reduce its size for storage or transport. The 250W rear hub motor provided relatively quick acceleration to its top throttle speed of 17.5 mph, along with three pedal assist modes with a good range of pedaling support. Considering the bike's small wheels, folding design, and 288Wh battery, we were pretty impressed with its distance range of just over 15 miles in full-electric/throttle mode. The battery also has a handle for easy removal, and we appreciate the front and rear fenders to help keep you dry.
While it offers folding convenience, the Ancheer Folding does require tools to remove the handlebar to get it to its most compact size. The folding design and its 16-inch wheels also give it a less stable ride quality than the larger-wheeled competition. Additionally, the controls and display leave a bit to be desired despite their functionality. Beyond those concerns, we still feel that this bike is an impressive value.

The smoothest and coolest bike in the bunch is the Aventon Sinch Step-Through. The ride feel while in the saddle of this bike is top-notch, as the 4-inch wide tires and front suspension fork absorb the bumps and cracks in the road. It handles well at high speeds, and the ride is quiet, too. And that excellent ride quality will continue for over thirty miles on a single charge, as we measured this model's range as one of the best in its class. The Aventon is plenty powerful, too, and assembly after unboxing takes next to no time. The high-tech display screen and great controls are a boon for user-friendliness. And when it comes to street appeal, this bike has it. We love the streamlined design with the frame-integrated &#40;yet still removable&#41; battery and the look of the tan-wall tires. We felt great in the saddle of this bike.
The biggest disadvantage of the Aventon Sinch is its significant weight. Folding bikes have portability as a large part of their appeal, and this model's nearly 70-pound weight makes it tough to lift in and out of car trunks and trailers. Its folded size is also one of the largest we measured, though it can still more easily fit where non-folding bikes cannot. We were also disappointed that this model does not come with many included features, although Aventon sells accessories to customize your ride. Yet, for the smoothest and most stylish ride in a category not known for either, the Aventon Sinch is going to satisfy.

The Blix Vika+ Flex took top honors in our folding electric bike test with high marks across all of our rating metrics. This powerful little bike has a robust 500W motor that provides quick acceleration, a top throttle speed of 20 mph, and pushes up to 24 mph using pedal assist. Its 614 Wh battery holds enough juice for long rides, traveling an impressive 27.5 miles in our throttle-only range test. It handles well for a folding model, with predictable manners in the turns and good stability at speed, and its powerful hydraulic disc brakes provide excellent control and stopping power. The seat and handlebar are also highly adjustable, and it has a wider range of fit than most of the competition. It also comes loaded with useful features like integrated lights, fenders, and a sturdy rear cargo rack. At 51 lbs and 14 oz, it's also significantly lighter than our other top performers, and it folds down quite small, making it more easily portable and storable than some other models.
While we feel the Vika+ Flex is the most well-rounded folding model in our test fleet, it does have a few minor drawbacks. With a rigid frame and comparatively narrower tires, it can feel a bit less forgiving over rough surfaces. Of course, the nature of its folding design and smaller wheels means that it doesn't have the same composure as the larger wheeled, non-folding competition. It has a very respectable range, but it was bested slightly in that metric by models with larger, and heavier, batteries. Those concerns aside, the Vika+ Flex proved to offer a high level of performance in a convenient folding package which made it the best folding model we tested.

Its smaller wheels and folding design also mean that it's inherently a little less stable than the larger wheeled, non-folding competition. That said, we feel it's the most complete folding model we tested, and it shines for its combination of all-around performance and portability.

After weeks of testing these bikes side-by-side, the most impressive, all-around performance came from the Blix Vika+ Flex. This model has the range for long commutes and all the features you can want, including integrated front and rear bike lights, a USB charger for your mobile phone, a cargo rack, and fenders to keep your clothes clean on your way to work or play. The Vika+ Flex has plenty of power and a max speed of up to 24 mph, while the hydraulic disc brakes control your speed smoothly and effectively. A smaller battery helps it keep its weight down compared to other top performers, along with a smaller folded size that makes it notably more easily portable than the over 60-pound models we tested. Its assembly is also easy-peasy, just a 15-minute affair. Tall riders will appreciate the height range on the seat post, which gave our six-tool lead tester enough room to fully extend his legs while pedaling.
This model does not have any significant drawbacks, though we have some minor critiques. It handles well and has a comfortable saddle, but without a suspension fork or very wide tires, the Blix doesn't offer the dampest ride of them all. And while it has an impressive range, a few other bikes bested the Blix by a few miles in our range tests. You can perhaps find an e-bike that can &#40;barely&#41; beat out the Blix in a single category, but across all performance areas combined, this bike comes out on top, earning our favor as the most complete, ride-ready folding electric bike.
