Even this has a self-program feature, you cannot contrl the size, especiall for the cakes!! For the beginner like me, I think I should have started with the simple machine at lower cost :) Aloha from Hawaii :D

If you're making bread just for yourself the small loaf may be a good option. On the other hand, many boxed mixes are for a standard 1.5 or 2 lb loaf. So check what size your preferred mixes are, and how much bread you'll be eating, before buying a smaller capacity machine

It will obviously warm up with the dough inside and then bake it for about one hour in a temperature lower than what you would use in the oven. This results in a lower rise, and more dense bread. Thus far this has been a dummy-proof unit. I’ve made the white bread recipe from the included cook-book (with the exception of dry milk…used 280g of water and 40g of heavy cream instead). Now using it to make Jalapeño Cheddar bread. So far so good

So Because we bought the warranty and they could not fix it they gave me refund to purchase new one, it took them one month to resolve the problem, but again we bought the same brand breadmaker.

I've not had any trouble with the machine "walking" or making any weird noises, and the machine came perfectly intact and free of dents. I called zojirushi before purchasing and the super nice representative helped me locate their authorized seller on Amazon and said that the warranty listed on their website is honored if you buy elsewhere, as long as you purchase from one of their authorized sellers. So be careful who you buy from. I wonder if the reviewers mentioning non-functioning, loud, or banged up machines inadvertently bought returned merchandise that ended up on a pallet bought by a reseller, or they bought from a third party seller that isnt authorized by zojirushi? Regardless, Ive not had any problems with my machine, my family loves it and I anticipate using it routinely

I am really enjoying my zojirushi Home Bakery Supreme. I didn't have any experience working with bread dough. I read King Arthur's Tips in "Bread Machines Can Be Easy" and have learned what the consistency of the dough should look like and and when the last rise cycle us to remove the paddles. Since then I have gotten really good results

Plus on my own I started using the homemade course, adapting Zoji's recipe as needed. So I set the time for each stage. So I use about the same ingredients and proportions and order of use, and I do weigh most everything (not honey or oil - too messy), but I sometimes have to add or subtract water - that seems to be the deciding variable. The dough shouldn't be too sticky, soft and wet - the machine can literally divide the dough into two separate balls; or too dry and solid, which makes a loaf that doesn't rise enough and is too dry and solid

I have no comments about other functions such as cake, jam or meat loaf courses or modes because my only interest is bread. LIKE: large loaf, whole wheat course, opening lid doesn't cause machine to stop operation(nor did it in the one it replaces), standard loaf shape, excellent manual with good recipes, programmable, timer allows delay in starting cycle, preheat can be disabled, non-stick pan and blades, brief power interruptions don't interfere with operation, can mix dough for baking in conventional oven. DON'T LIKE: it's hard to see the loaf without raising the lid(no interior light), cleaning around the blade drive shafts is still a pain, limitations on programming, holes made by blades(just have to accept that bread baked in a bread machine will have bottom holes). Since purchasing the machine I have made at least seven loaves of bread without a failure despite creating my own recipes

For what this machine costs it should really have this feature or at least let consumers know that it is not offered on this machine.

The total time of Quick is 2:18 vs Basic, 3:45. This is shown on page 9 of the operating instructions manual (which I failed to comprehend when I made my initial loaf, dingbat). Switching to the Quick Course setting made all the difference! - I used a tried and true recipe for the second loaf, Honey-Oat Pain de Mie bread (from the King Arthur website). This recipe calls for 3 cups of flour plus 1 cup of oatmeal

I decided I didn’t want to mess with buying and replacing cheaper bread machines. This machine arrived within a couple days of placing the order. Everything was well packed. I didn’t have to wrestle it out of its box and deal with cheap crumbly styrofoam

Cost? About the price of a new unit. I've been using it for a couple years with the broken part. I've never had much luck setting it up the night before and getting perfect bread in the morning.

For the price I think the could have thrown in a power switch on the front of the machine. However, aside from the lack of a power switch this machine makes fantastic bread and I couldn't be happier. If you can justify the cost of the machine over other very adequate machines that cost significantly less, you will love this appliance and the resulting bread.

I also refuse to use egg whites, and have substituted one whole egg for the two egg whites in most of the gluten-free recipes. This does require me to use the lightest crust setting to avoid crusts that are too dark. Despite all this rebelliousness, every single loaf has turned out GREAT! Unlike some of the other reviewers, I really don't care about the holes in the bottom of the loaf from the paddles. I really don't care about having a perfectly shaped top, either
