 These are my honest opinions based on the runs

 Local calls the Kendo 88 a narrow all-mountain ski.

 I spent a lot of time skiing on the East Coast,

 and this would make a fantastic river of one

 for an East Coast skier who spends a lot of their time

 and it had a lot of energy in and out of the turn.

 If you want to help find the right gear for you,

 This ski's got a medium 16 meter turn radius.

 So it's good for an expert skier in the bumps

 and great for an advanced to expert skier

 The Kendo 88 is very stable in the turn.

 It's a very damp ski that can handle a range of conditions,

 a little bit too stiff for super manky snow.

 I'd say these skis are ideal for groom terrain in the East

 These would not be my first choice in deep powder.

 The same thing that makes them so composed

 to advanced or expert skiers in the East.

 It'll make a really great all-mountain ski.

 This is not a good ski for a beginner skier.

This is a really solid option for somebody who's your really strong intermediate, really athletic intermediate, up through your expert level skier that's looking for a ski that's going to spend most of their time on in the hard pack but still have some good all-mountain versatility to it. Pretty unique construction in this ski with the titanal frame and the 3D radius sidecut

 It's a little bit more of a ski that you've got to weight on into the turn. The overall shape does allow for good versatility in pivot and smearing as well when you start to get off trails. It's a great ski for a bump skier, somebody who's going to ski some tighter blades but doesn't necessarily want to go to a wider platform.

 Hi, I'm Thom. I just got done skiing the Volkl Kendo 88.

 This is a really solid option for somebody who's

 Pretty unique construction in this ski with the titanal frame and the 3D radius

 sidecut. A really, really long turn radius up in the tip of this ski

 that gets a lot tighter underfoot. So what that makes this ski do

 is enter a turn not with the most power and the most energy

 but it enters with this nice smooth GS arc.

 Really good edge hold, really damp. But when you get to the center of the turn you really can

 stand on it and shorten up that turn shape pretty aggressively. So you've got a lot of

 versatility in the type of turn that this is going to make. It's just not going to initiate

 with that real natural carving feel. It's a little bit more of a ski that you've got

 to weight on into the turn. The overall shape does allow for

 good versatility in pivot and smearing as well when you start to get off trails.

 It's a great ski for a bump skier, somebody who's going to ski some tighter

 blades but doesn't necessarily want to go to a wider platform.

 With that tailored titanal frame, the thick part ends about here. In order to take up some of the lack of metal in the very shovel, they've put in that carbon weave and that makes it more torsionally stiff, a little bit more responsive. That's where the lowering of the swing weight comes from and makes this thing a little bit easier to get up on edge than it was in years past. Just a great couple of different advantages for this Kendo 88

 For this year, we get a tailored titanal frame and tailored carbon tips. We do start with their multi-layer wood core and we do get two sheets of metal, the upper laminate is that frame, so extending around the tail with a little break here, metal underfoot, another break, and then a frame in the shovel as well. When you go to initiate and complete turns, you get that full metal over the edge as well as that underfoot zone as well. The breaks in the frame do allow for a more natural progressive flex in the ski, so for that all-mountain skier who's looking to really bend this thing, this ski is a great choice

 Tailored carbon tips as well. They've taken these little carbon weaves and put them in a specific manner to make the torsional stiffness a little bit greater. With that tailored titanal frame, the thick part ends about here. In order to take up some of the lack of metal in the very shovel, they've put in that carbon weave and that makes it more torsionally stiff, a little bit more responsive

 Excellent grip on the ice, not too bad in soft snow. We had it out there this past year, three, four inches, something like that, no problem there. Any deeper and wider is going to be better, but for most skiers, most of the days, this 88 millimeter underfoot width is just the perfect range for all mountain, and the Kendo is consistently at the higher end of that spectrum in terms of performance. In terms of weight, this 177 here is 1904 grams on the scale here, so just shy of that 2000 gram marker
