Viofo A129 Duo vs VIOFO A229

I got the Viofo A129 because it does well in the heat. Make sure your memory card is rated for hot climates, too.

Make sure you use a high endurance SD card as Viofo recommends (Samsung Pro Endurance, Sandisk High Endurance, or Viofo brands). Also, ensure you're buying your card from a reputable seller such as Amazon so you don't get stuck with a counterfeit SD card that will drive you nuts when troubleshooting camera issues. I'd also recommend getting the circular polarization filter for the front camera to get rid of glare on the dash and windshield. Overall, I'm very happy with my purchase

I'm really hoping Viofo listens to customers input and with a few well thought out firmware and software changes this Viofo dashcam could be even better! I will update this review once the CPL filter and the three wire hardware kit is available and I'm able to use it with the parking mode. As is usual with reviews don't take my word for it. Check for yourself, compare my comments to others, read about it on other forums and then make your own decision that you have verified will work for you! All in all from what I have seen so far (pending on how the things mentioned above perform) I would buy it again.

I bought this cam and the recommended hardwire kit to take advantage of parking mode - capturing videos after motion detection, or physical movement while the car is off/parked. the video , front and rear work fine while the car is on, but when the car is turned off, the camera goes into parking mode for about 2 minutes before turning completely off, and recording nothing if there is motion in front of the camera, or the car is moved/bumped/hit. I have verified several times that the wiring is correct, and have had an e-mail dialog with support for 2 months, but no resolution, they keep asking me if the voltage switch is set to the lowest setting, and if my wiring is correct. I have sent verification and photos of each, and they have supported my findings, but them will ask the same questions again

NOTE: Change the power adapter. It's recommended that you use the one in the box. The prior one might have a lower power output, and this might compromise device functionality. Rear camera installation: I strongly recommend you install the front camera first and then attach the rear camera, use your Phone to check the back camera framing (that's why it's important to setup the camera and app at home first before installing in your car, you'll be able to learn all of this), and attach the thick cable in both cameras and power everything so you can check angles first

This dash camera is one of the best I have seen so far. Installation was easy with the included trim tool witch was a very nice add, the rear camera cable is nice and thing and is easy to route through trim and weather stripping with ease. Change Loop Recording time to 2 min for smaller file size. Change Video Bitrate to High or Maximum. Use a durable microSD card like Samsung Pro Endurance.
