This Toshiba is a relative steal for $350, even though there are less expensive Chromebooks on the market.
It has 4GB of RAM (as much, we must note, as the $1,000 Surface Laptop coming this summer), and its performance was deemed excellent by our testers. It can simultaneously run several browser windows or streaming movies without a struggle.

  -UPDATE (May 28, 2016): After ~5 months of heavy use (~8 hours daily) and I am pleased with the performance! I can now just barely hear the fan in a very quiet room where as before I was totally unaware it was even running. It is still very quiet though and nothing like my old lenovo.  -There are trackpad “dead zones.” On both sides, there are half-inch vertical strips where the trackpad does not work. Took me a few weeks to notice, definitely a bummer. -Opening this Chromebook is difficult

  Toshiba CB2 Cons: -The trackpad physical click isn't great. If you tap hard, it sounds unpleasantly like a click but you have to press much harder to get it to physically click which makes dragging difficult because the friction is so high. You can get around this by enabling tap to click and double tap to drag, but the physical click was hard to get used to. This is my first laptop with this click feature, so take this opinion with a grain of salt

TOSHIBA CHROMEBOOK IN-DEPTH REVIEW

  First two day's have each given me approximately six to seven hours of battery life, with about 20% or so remaining (according to the meter). Movies obviously take their toll.  Now onto CHROME: Super fast boot up.

 For comparison, our other laptop has only b/g/n. SpeedTest.net has our standard one at 52MBS, while the Toshiba clocks in a 155MBS! I've had a dozen tabs open, plus a movie on and this thing doesn't break a sweat. A big thumbs up!  Have had a couple of drops on day one, but it re-connected immediately

Toshiba CB35-C3300.  First take AND Google Chrome-TAKE NOTE!

 Keyboard is reasonably comfortable. However, will take some getting used to because layout is slightly different than traditional keyboard layout found on laptop PCs. No ALL CAPS key, instead a "search" key in its place.  I would cautiously recommend this device to other people looking for a good Chromebook

 Where this device excels is in the screen quality, keyboard, trackpad, battery life and ease of use!  The display is top notch. Colors are bright and vivid and text is crystal clear. I do not use it outdoors, so I cannot comment on that, but all other usage has been great. The keyboard rivals and in some ways I'd say beats my Macbook Pro and the trackpad is very responsive and an absolute pleasure to use compared to most offerings on the many windows laptops I've used over the years

The track pad is the 1st thing I noticed which kind of turned me off

The MOTOR sound sounds just like there is actually some hair stuck in it, which makes the fan work harder. With this fan discrepancy I'm afraid that something on the computer will give-out before its average life expectancy.  One more tidbit: Even though the screen is only 1080p, this thing motors through 1440p video like nothing, with multiple youtube tabs opened playing the same resolution; I tested it :)  I am returning it reluctantly and with one caveat: If the fan didn't make that noise and the track pad was as it should be, I would NEVER consider returning this pretty sweet machine

If you run your finger nail up from the bottom of the laptop towards the track pad, the track pad actually STOPS your finger from moving ONTO the track pad

Returning Reluctantly:Updated!!!!!!

 You cannot be dissapointed with a screen like this, especially for $300!  Con's (ALL MINOR) -You seriously cannot expect much more for a $300 system. But the trackpad is a little poor. Personally I think it works great, but is a tiny bit "cheap". The keyboard is great, and the trackpad I have never had a problem, but the actual clicking and quality could be improved

Never Thought I would own a Chromebook

 I had a good understanding of Chromebooks before I purchased this, so I knew what to expect. Specifically referring to this computer, though, it's fantastic. The keyboard is fantastic, the keyboard backlighting is wonderful (the main reason I chose this Chromebook) the screen exceeds expectations (extremely bright and crisp) and the touchpad is very accurate and sensitive. I've read complaints about the touchpad, but I cannot agree

  Specific to this machine, the quality still blows me away. It's like a mini Macbook Pro (in regards to the hardware). The speakers reproduce sound better than I would have ever expected, they're loud and have bass and mids, it's crazy. The screen is so nice, color accuracy is wonderful, brightness is fantastic, viewing angle is exceptional, pixel density is great

 The touchpad itself is awesome, but the physical click is like there's a marshmallow underneath the touch pad with a tooth pick jammed in it, and you have to break the toothpick in order to click. I mean, the physical click is really mushy and the click is so unsatisfying. Anyway, for how good the hardware of this Chromebook is, it really disappoints me that the touchpad doesn't have a really nice clean click

 Using it outside will make it even worse. - Its heavy to be used in tablet mode. So, in my opinion, the touch screen is not necessary at all. - I can hear a high pitched, very faint noise on the back of the laptop

 - Great performance. I was worried about the 4 GB ram and not a possibility to expand it. However, I've had no issues, even with 8-10 tabs open in chrome and two Youtube videos in parallel. That i3 together with chrome OS does an amazing job

 I'm sure he got through because he was Amazon. The hardware tech support person was also unable to help me change the resolution. By now I had been on the phone for an hour. The hardware support person bow transferred me to Lenovo software support
