 And at the back we have possibly one of the best harnesses developed for an everyday backpack in North Faces a flex vent suspension system. It features a heavily padded back panel with these super comfy mesh pads and a center channel for maximum airflow and breathability both vertically and horizontally. The shoulder straps are also heavily pad a mesh and a contoured and feature custom injection molded phone kinda like memory foam. They had these flex zones which offer incredible support and alleviate the hot spots commonly found on the clavicle or the collarbone and they also help prevent pressure point strain and neck strain, especially when carrying heavy loads

 A sternum strap and hip strap off the added stability and load control and the sternum strap also features an emergency whistle. You can also adjust the sternum strap here so that is actually positioned correctly on your body. Also, if you're not super interested in hip straps, they'll find them super flappy, then you can actually remove that. Not a problem

 It can house up to a 15 inch laptop. This is my 13-inch MacBook Pro and you can see there's plenty of space for a 15-inch laptop. It's also a suspended laptop sleeve ie. it doesn't reach the end of the bag, so if in the case you accidentally drop your bag, the laptop won't be seriously damaged by the drop impact because it's suspended from the base

 You can get it to the fit exactly where you want. again. yeah we have like itw hardware here and some duraflex here as well. so that's duraflex itw sternum strap

 Okay, I'm looking around making sure we didn't miss anything before we go to the inside of the bag. So yeah, let's let's continue on to the inside. There is a slash pocket right here that opens up. It's very soft, kind of felty like material here

 Really comfortable and soft to grab to the touch, but also rigid enough to you know feel like you're getting a nice grab on it. The there's a nice back panel too here, so it's got some good structure to it. Now I noticed in a lot of the marketing videos on North Face site it's standing up on its own and uh, mine isn't Now if you pack it right, it will. but I just wanted to show you that mine is not and I think some of that has to do with the rigidity of this frame sheet which makes it very comfortable to carry

 It feels really really nice when you guys put it on because it's like very very sturdy and the design of how to make the back tires like it made perfectly so it kind of expands everything out so that way you guys won't be leaning too far or leaning through back because the back parts also like protective auric holding you into a good position which is it really really good. and I like that a lot. So you guys want to strap in? Yes in. Japanese Whoa! So right here there's a strap option but I'm not gonna use that right now

 there's so lefty much everything that's actually on this backpack. Now let's actually put on shares what it looks like and talk about why nots actually worked it enough. It feels really really nice when you guys put it on because it's like very very sturdy and the design of how to make the back tires like it made perfectly so it kind of expands everything out so that way you guys won't be leaning too far or leaning through back because the back parts also like protective auric holding you into a good position which is it really really good. and I like that a lot

 This one doesn't go all the way down to like the bottom. You guys can see it's all breathable and looking really really nice. It's like a brand-new design padding material, but it actually performs better as well. Next up, on the side we have like two compartments on each side to put your water bottles in so you guys don't put your water bottles on, you guys can put it on there

 They have a zipper right here. You guys put stuff in. very similar to the old recon right there. There's a compartment here and put your pens and other accessories that you had probably need and you had to put stuff into that part right here

The North Face Recon Backpack Review! Worth it?

[URL REMOVED] flight from Illinois to Mexico for 5 day trip inspired me to one bag it and post thoughts on my experience with TNF Recon.

 great great for your glasses if you want to stick your glasses in or your cell phone like I got my note plus in there actually got some good size to it. It goes down to about here inside the pack and if you move up you got Ykk zippers on this pocket as well. So if you move up you got this large super large North face branding. I like the fact that he stitched it in but I could have taken it like half the size of it like it's like like all in your face how big this branding is right here on the sides right here you do have like these daisy chain loops which is always helpful

 Some folks will like feed a jacket through these loops and then compress it down these. These compression straps serve a lot of different purposes because they also have reflectivity built in to the top of the buckles right here. This reflectivity goes on the bottom of the pack and it also goes on the side. It's got a little you know little lash right there with some reflectivity on both sides and also on the shoulder straps

 I feel like you're going to get venting. It's going to be comfortable, so what can you complain about? Down at the bottom you got a hip strap not to be confused with the hip belt. Okay, so this is going to be for stabilization. It's not going to, you know, take any weight from off out of the pack and put it onto your hips

 So if you move up you got this large super large North face branding. I like the fact that he stitched it in but I could have taken it like half the size of it like it's like like all in your face how big this branding is right here on the sides right here you do have like these daisy chain loops which is always helpful. I like to clip my like carabiners and if I want to clip hat or a jacket on the outside of my bag I can do that. Now one thing that they did change on this package

The North Face Recon Backpack 2021- 2022:  Best Everyday Carry?

 Decent price too. However, the seam is fraying and there is already a hole on the seam near the zipper. This is after a three day trip on a flight and to/from a hotel with light fill.  Disappointing with the quality to have a frayed seam and a hole in 72 hours of light use

Looks great but not sure on durability

I suspect the Recon might have more comfortable straps, although because I have a short commute, as long as it's *not uncomfortable*, then that's good enough for 95% of my useage. I also like the look of the Recon ventilation over the Nebula. I live in a warm/hot climate and sweat a lot riding my bike, especially with a backpack on. Although because I'm showering on arrival at work, it's not a huge deal

- 13" work laptop with small headset, charger and a mouse. My personal laptop is 15" and would like it to fit this for weekend trips/travel. Do not need to carry both at once.

Looking for a new EDC backpack that is comfortable enough to wear on a 6km/~20min bicycle commute. Or for like 15 minutes of walking and 20 minutes of standing on a busy train.

 It's you know. it's definitely something that you don't see every day. well at least I don't see every day traveling on a train back and forth in DC And it's a bag that I'm like hey, this might last it lasted 15 years, it might last another 15. You know this bag is a very helpful bag

 Patrina hit and he had to take a boat to the grocery store. Then Connie told us how George Bush really felt about black people and oh yeah, spotted back So when I bought this bag in 2005 I was really just looking for a backpack that I could carry back and forth to work. so I walked into Motel I think all the motels are closed now but I walked into motels and I saw this backpack and I was like this is a pretty good useful bag that I could use for a couple of years take it back to for is to work. So I kind of fell in love with this bag and I'll show you why so that this is this video is gonna be for the person that really enjoys North Face backpack so just letting you know we're gonna get into a deeper dive about the quality of materials, the stitching and the features that they've changed from the 2005 version like 15 years later and see what they're putting in like the 2019 version of the North Face recon this right here is a great example: I've taken care of this bag I've actually thrown in a washing machine is why I kind of still looks new out I Try to take care of my stuff throughout the years so this bag right here weighs in at 2 pounds 10 ounces so it's on par

The Recon pack is overall a good pack with a few exceptions. It’s large, perhaps too large, for a travel pack that you can push under those increasingly smaller airline seats. The pack is comfortable and suspension system is well designed but a bit too much for my particular needs. I don’t load it up with 15+ lbs so I could do without the waist belt and sternum strap

 The bottom compression straps might be useful if you’re loading the pack up with a laptop and heavy books. 

 The smaller zipped compartment is my biggest gripe and the reason for a four rating. Nothing wrong with its five organization pockets but the section described as a tablet pocket is too small for a regular iPad. If this pocket were just one inch deeper you could easily drop in a tablet with no problems. I normally don’t travel with a laptop so that well padded compartment will have to carry my tablet

With a measured weight of 21.3 ounces, it's a great deal lighter than most in our fleet. Made from Dyneema Composite Fabric &#40;DFC&#41;, it's incredibly durable, though the fabric is a bit stiff and crunchy. Beware of sharp metal edges &#40;bear canisters or climbing gear&#41;, since they can easily be worn through the fabric. A relatively recent update includes changes to the straps, pockets, and waist belt. The pack has also seen a carrying capacity increase from 52 to 55 liters. 
The Arc Blast is a slimmed-down ultralight machine with no bells or whistles. The frame is super light and a bit complicated; we do not recommend removing it unless you want to spend a great deal of time reassembling the pack. A bear canister only fits into this slender pack vertically, making it a little less-than-efficient to pack. We recommend this pack to any experienced ultralighter looking to strip a few ounces off their Big Four base weight.
