The Run Testers

 It comes with two soft flasks built in and then on the front here You've got a couple of stash pockets on either side those stretch quite big and you can fit quite a lot of gear in there There's two of them so you can also compartmentalize you can separate gloves from gels or different types of fuel That's quite handy for storing things I really like the fact that they're also right up front where you can kind of easily reach things So sometimes I find those pockets are put too far around to the back and I'm not the most flexible So it could be quite hard to grab things out. But yes, you've got your kind of your portable kind of You know fuel and essential space right up front and you'll easily be able to carry kind of a range of kind of Gels a head torch pair of gloves, you know, most of your essential kit is going to fit into this into the pockets on this bag You've also got one main compartment in the back as you can see that kind of sits quite tight to the back But it will stretch, you know That's a slot where you could easily fit jackets and other kind of clothes and garments those kind of things You've also got right on the back here. You've got an extra sort of stretchy section that runs through here If you can see I put my arm right through There you go. Now that is somewhere where you can actually stash your poles your hiking poles for having them here nice and easy So when you run there They're just to pull out and whip out and use them when you want stash and pack them away again out the way in a place That's not going to be kind of irritating Sometimes if you have poles on the front, you know They can they can be quite high or they can be in your way and sort of get around your face But that's quite nice to have them at the back there

 It's nice and light There's not too much You know on the back there to keep you too hot particularly if you're gonna be running ultras in longer kind of longer hotter conditions That's that's really good. It was it was kind of nicely wicking and I didn't get I didn't overheat in it these shoulder harnesses Although they're sort of fairly thin They're made of a kind of almost like a bit more of a sort of plastic coating to these they're not they are very very thin Very minimal they don't tend to bunch up and screw up like this Some vests can which is another thing that I kind of I realize nothing worse than having something where it starts to roll up And cut in on your shoulders being uncomfortable over a cut of longer distances and longer hours in terms of how it runs as well Apart from that juggling around, you know, there's no it's not in getting in the way when the weather things sit It's kind of nicely out your way your arms and you don't feel sort of restricted in any way So yeah the over that that kind of fit I think is actually really nice on this vest And it's a real shame that when those bottles are full that this thing doesn't stay put Yeah, so my verdict then on the North Face flight series ultra race fest is that this had really good potential when I got out The bag I was thinking this could be a really good number. It looks kind of nice and minimal It looks perfect for doing what I would sort of say like a hundred K's where you know You're going to be able to pick up fuel from the aid stations and just carry in Enough for what you need with those kind of two or three hours in between each of those carry your water Fewer piece of essential care that you're going to be able to carry with you Each of those carry your water few piece of essential kit, but be nice and light and free It has all of those things until you start running at which point these soft flasks jump all around all over the shop and this vest just jiggles and wriggles and you know, It's just off-putting. The North Face Flight Series Race Vest Review: Ultra running pack potential with one major wobble

 Hey people, welcome to the run testers welcome to my garden and in this video

 I'm going to be talking about this. This is the North Face flight series race fest. It's like an ultra minimal

 Ultra race fest. I've tested this out and we're telling you what I think of it

 So what you've got here is a super light super minimal ultra race fest

 I'd be using this in situations where I was doing like a single day

 Ultra or something where I'm going to be able to kind of restock what I'm carrying the pack at regular kind of intervals at aid stations

 In terms of pocket and stash space you've got one main sort of zippered pocket

 That's big enough to take a one of the larger size kind of iPhones zippered

 You've got two soft flasks. It comes with two soft flasks built in and then on the front here

 You've got a couple of stash pockets on either side those stretch quite big and you can fit quite a lot of gear in there

 hook attachment to kind of keep them anchored down and keep them in place, but there's a big but with this hot

 Remember was just me. I gave it to a few other people. I find them very hard

 We're a little bit frustrating to get on and off maybe that will loosen off over time as you use them

 But yeah, it's not the easiest mechanism to undo them and do them back up

 That makes refilling them at aid stations if you take them out of the pockets, which I tend to do really quite annoying right now

 I can't get it back on I guess once you've unclipped it you could just forget about those

 But yeah, it feels like a feature that's there to do something but isn't really adding much

 You can see it takes quite a bit of a tug to get them on. I'm worried about that plastic breaking as well

 You've got a couple extra toggles always nice to wrap around the top of the bottle to keep it in place

 You have got these toggles under here that basically pull your soft flasks down

 into place now it kind of feels like there ought to be something here to

 Attach those together and that might help give you a bit more of a lockdown fit, but there's there's not

 So I don't really see the point in those apart from helping you drag those bottles down into place

 Straps here to keep this in place to hold the harness in place. So these chest straps are

 But even though even adjusting the height moving it around didn't help with me getting that fit

 It's still wobbled regardless of where these were right now

 I'm running in the medium vest which kind of feels right in terms of its overall design and fit on me

 But even with those pulls as tight as they get when I ran with this with full soft flasks

 It was it was jiggly-wobbly. It was an absolute nightmare

 I've actually tested it during a half marathon at one point in a race running, you know

 I'm running fairly fast, but not crazy fast and it was so uncomfortable

 I had to stop after a mile and just empty the water

 It's no good. That's a huge problem for this vest

 I can't get a good kind of lockdown have it feel kind of tight and secure and that's the same the minute you start to

 Load up this front pockets and put any kind of weight in the front

 This thing starts to juggle around all over the shop and I could not get it to sit still

 Huge problem really basically because that's kind of what it's designed for

 You don't want that to be happening when you're on a run once I jettisoned that water and didn't have very much in front

 Just had some sort of fuel products and bits and pieces. It's actually performed really quite well. It's very comfortable

 I thought it was nice and breathable. It's nice and light

 You know on the back there to keep you too hot particularly if you're gonna be running ultras in longer kind of longer hotter conditions

 That's that's really good. It was it was kind of nicely wicking and I didn't get I didn't overheat in it these shoulder harnesses
