To me you’re exactly describing that downcountry category, so I’d say  take a look at Specialized Epic Evo, Yeti SB115, Revel Ranger, Evil Following, Santa Cruz Tallboy, and definitely a good hard look at the Transition Spur.

TL:DR a trail bike is optimal for my area but i love xc and am scared to miss the momentum and speed of xc, what should i do!

ok so, i have been riding mountainbike for about 9 years and have only ridden cross country hardtails. i am now 16 and i have saved up to buy a carbon full suspension bike. my issue is that my local trails are a very mixed bag, there are crazy downhill sections that are quite sketchy on my current xc bike but there are also really steep and techy uphills that i like to do on my xc bike. my friend and basically 80% of the locals are riding all mountain/enduro bikes, but they are hiking up the climbs. i want to get a bike that i enjoy, i love riding fast uphill and sending it straight down again on my xc bike but i can never keep up with anyone going downhill and im terrified to do the crazy jumps that my friend does. i want to buy a trail/all mountain bike but i am scared to loose the speed and momentum the xc bike gives me.

please help!

* Full suspension: Specialized Stumpjumper FSR Comp - great condition. The guy said it's from 2007. He kept it well maintained and comes with a bleed kit.

It sounds like the type of riding you'll be doing puts you in the full suspension category. The stumpjumper has always been a great platform.

I am liking the look of two bikes, the Marin San Quentin 3 and the Specialized Stumpjumper Alloy. But I am not sure which one to go for, as both bikes are great.

Can't Decide Against Hardtail vs Full-Sus...

 I will say however my santa cruz had it all over the evil on paint finish, and frame finishing.

I am trying to decide between some bikes with a lifetime frame warranty. I've found an Evil Offering GX build, and a Santa Cruz Bronson C S MX build. Would love a hightower, but can't find one right now. I've heard that the offering is super playful, but seems like most people agree SC's customer service is hard to beat. Just looking to get some opinions from people that have owned some of these.
