Sorel Joan of Arctic Boots vs The North Face Shellista IV Mid

I’m wondering because I got the new Joan of Arctic Next Premium style, and I am caught between two sizes. The larger size is too loose with normal socks, and the smaller too tight with thick socks. I see the Sorel items technically aren’t temperature rated like with many of their competitors, and customer service couldn’t give me any approximations either.

I'm going to keep them cause sending them back is a pain in the ass. So do yourself a favor, order a size in a half bigger.

Update: I tried my boots on again and walked around the house with them. I just could not fall in love with them and for $169 and I’m sadly returning them. I need to really love these boots. I feel like I’m wearing clown shoes weighed down by bricks

Suffice to say they run a bit small. They’re a super attractive boot but there’s a design flaw that gives you a giant cankle. In between the rubber that cups your foot and the top end where the laces start, there’s a strip of fabric that shouldn’t be there. It would’ve been better to extend the rubber edge further up the side of the boot and done away with that fabric strip altogether

They fit my wide calf and my wide foot, and are perfect for those heavy snow days--and cute to boot! :)

They were a little snug with regular socks, but would be much too tight with thick socks. I ordered these for cold morning walks and the occasional ski trip or ice storm. We don't usually get much snow, but it does get cold and I walk my kids to school most days. I don't know if all snow boots feel like ski boots, but I was hoping these would be more comfortable than my last pair of snow boots
