The Sonos Roam is the best smart shower speaker we've tested. It offers outstanding voice assistant support with Alexa and Google Assistant built-in and has little trouble registering your commands from far away and in noisier settings. You can activate your assistant with your voice, and you can mute the speaker's mic when you no longer want it to listen to you.

With its Trueplay room correction feature enabled, its sound profile is fairly balanced, making it suitable for listening to a wide variety of audio content. It lacks low-bass, and higher-pitched voices and lead instruments also sound a bit dark at times. Fortunately, there are bass and treble adjustments in the Sonos S2 app to tweak its sound. It's also amazingly built, with an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance that certifies it to be immersible in up to a meter of water for 30 minutes.

Unfortunately, its room correction feature is only available with iOS devices. It also doesn't get very loud, and there's some compression present at max volume that can affect the quality of your audio when the speaker is pushed to its louder volume levels. It’s far overpriced for such a small speaker that lacks sound. You are paying for convenience for those who already have Sonos speakers throughout their home like me.  So i can see the rom being popular with existing customers who are looking to expand their system with another room of music, such as a bathroom or kitchen, with the option to then take out into the garden or on holiday. I can also see people who are new to sonos opting for the rome as a good, portable speaker solution and also an affordable way to start off a sonos home setup. So, let's briefly cover the pros and cons then, so i think the main pro for the rom is the flexibility of both wi-fi and bluetooth control. This sets the room apart in a very crowded market, as it's not just a portable speaker for taken away, but it can also be part of your sonos home ecosystem and offer another room of music

It's a shame that you can't call on the voice assistant while using Bluetooth, but it's certainly not a dealbreaker &ndash; and we daresay the experience of using Google Assistant over Bluetooth would be more frustrating than helpful.
