Simplehuman Compact Steel Frame vs iSpecle 201 Stainless 2-Tier

Bought this as a replacement for my old Super Human workhorse dish drainer which finally died after many years. This new model has many fewer features: no knife slots in the cutlery basket, drain tray under cup clips does not retract nor do clips themselves. The plastic material of the drainer itself is thinner and the plate rack inside is less sturdy and is not adjustable at all. This is not the robust and well engineered product I expected from Super Human and at this price point

We moved into our current apartment in Dec 2021. I had been wanting this rack since we lived in our old apartment. The kitchen here is much smaller and I had been putting off ordering this just because I thought it a bit frivolous on our tight budget. But I said enough is enough

This one has a metal grate with large tines on one side (for plates) and no tines on the other. It's very difficult to use the non-tine side effectively. If they had put the metal support in a different spot, maybe used two in an offset pattern from the one they did, it would work the way I need it to by allowing items to slot into the grate instead. As it is, I can't lean anything, it all slides down

The built-in cutting board holder is handy, though, and holds three cutting boards of decent size very well. I also have an extra chef's knife that doesn't fit in the knife block I own, so I do keep that knife permanently on this rack and that works well. On the whole, it is a good quality rack that was easy enough to assemble and looks nice, it was just not completely ideal for what I wanted it for.

I really like this dish rack, small, sleek, and clean looking. The only suggestion I have is too make the sides shorter, so you are not seeing a lot of aluminum.

I loved the look of this, as well as getting my dishes up off the counter and away from the germy sink. (You couldn’t PAY me to use one of those in-sink drying racks that save counter space and contaminate your dishes.) It doesn’t work for big things like baking sheets, cutting boards, or a skillet larger in diameter than 9”. Even if they did fit in there, the rack itself is pretty flimsy and lightweight, so they might topple it easily

3. Flexibility in Size. It's both con and pro. It's very flexible, so don't worry about counter top space

Now for the bad. The bowl tray is only made for small bowls. Average sized bowls won't fit in the slots. Smaller cups will also work

I had to replace the first SH compact one that was bought over 10 years. It was made of plastic so getting a stainless steel look is definitely an upgrade. The rack is solid made, golden standard of the brand. I missed the feature of the sprout from the old one that I could pivot to different side, not a deal breaker though

I love this dishrack! I particularly appreciate its sturdiness and its add-on wine glass rack that takes 5 seconds to install or remove. This rack literally makes cleanup easier. One critique: after struggling to understand the dimensions online, I first ordered the small size, which was too small. The basic dimensions of the "bin" of the large size are 20"D x 13 1/2"W plus 3 3/4" draining tray under the glass holders

This product is ultimately too cheap to make good on it's promise to resist rust and last. Its says it's 201 stainless steel which is more like the cheap shower tools that rust and get thrown away than the everlasting products made of 304 that truly last and don't rust. The drying rack is a bit narrow so the drying area is smaller than you'd think going from a more square drying tabletop rack. The rack comes in two parts and the problem is that there's an air gap where the two parts meet
