5 millimeter that is an output that is variable with the volume knob and this will be your first input that'll be your primary input, but it will be taken over if you plug something into this. So I leave this completely unplugged at all times and the setup that I'm basically running with it right now is I haven't plugged into my computer via this and then I have an output going to my speakers in the back. so I'll show you what that kind of looks like. Okay, and then if I play a video here fifties by Sennheiser's okay and then basically what the inputs do or I'm sorry the outputs is that will play out the back until you plug something into this quarter-inch and then once you do that, it'll start playing out over the quarter-inch and once you pull it out, it'll start playing out the back again

 How does it sound? Well, honestly, it sounds pretty clear. it's a good word I would describe it. So end up sending the first model back is basically what I'm trying to tell you now. I Got this model

Hey, so I finally decided to pull the trigger and order Focal Clears, partly because there was a really good deal going on for them in Germany. They haven't arrived yet, but I'm interested in hearing how well they scale with different amps, especially balanced ones. I'm just using a Schiit Fulla 2 right now which so far hasn't failed to deliver more than satisfactory sound quality on all the headphones I've so far tried with it (AKG K7XX, Sennheiser HD600, Avantone Planar) but I feel kind of weird about pairing $1000 ($1500 MSRP?) headphones with a $100 DAC/amp, so I'm looking into investing in a $100-200 amp in the future just to get the most out of them, but not really at the moment. I'm interested in knowing how the detail, dynamics and (most importantly for me) soundstage scale with a better amp, and if balanced output affects anything. Would anyone perhaps have suggestions for a good $200 ish balanced amp? (I'd continue using my Fulla 2 as a DAC, as I don't really think I'd hear the difference from a fancier DAC that well.)

 Overall I'm really happy with them though, and I'm glad that I managed to score them for 1169€ as they were on sale for 1299€, which I combined with the WELCOME10 code on Sennheiser's website. I also plan to upgrade my Fulla 2 to a Topping or Schiit Heresy stack or something in the future, though I'm not sure how necessary it is as it hasn't really let me down so far other than the crappy knob that's noisy and gets very imbalanced at low volumes.

They're also so light and comfortable; I find them more comfy than my AKG K7XX's which until now I found to be the most comfortable pair I've had. I might look into these passive filter dongles you can get to EQ down the treble peak, or maybe tube amps, though I'm more into a fully transparent chain as I produce music. Overall I'm really happy with them though, and I'm glad that I managed to score them for 1169€ as they were on sale for 1299€, which I combined with the WELCOME10 code on Sennheiser's website. Well, thanks a lot ( he says with sarcasm) you just got me to drop over $1k on headphones! Not looking forward to rationalizing this luxury purchase with my wife.  I've had the HD 650 for about 3 years now and have found myself yearning for more clarity over and over. I like to sit down and have critical listening sessions but I'm convinced that the infamous "veil" on the 650s is not for me.  I use a Chord Mojo DAC/Amp  and it drives the 650s beautifully, so I'm anticipating the same with the 800S. At least I hope so because an amp upgrade feels even more frivolous.  I'll be sure to come back with a follow-up post on impressions once I get through my first session.  I'll provide a bonus follow-up on my wife's face when she hears I just dropped $1,300 on headphones (on sale!).🤣

Really tempted to finally pull the trigger on these. Forgot the service I used but I did one a loooong time ago where I got to rent 3 headphones for like a week or two. I rented the HD 800, Audeze LCD X and Audeze LCD 2 and I really loved the 800. That soundstage and lightweight all day comfort it was an eye opening experience.

HD 800 S: My endgame quest is over

I ordered one of these and had to have the first replaced.  The first one had a volume knob that was tilted several degrees off-center and it made a lot of scratch noises when used.  The replacement had a straight knob, and no scratch noises. After some usage it developed the scratch noises and they seemed to get progressively worse, but at a very slow rate

  There was power to drive my headphones somewhat adequately, but not satisfactorily. The sound quality was okay for the price. I liked using it best in my car. It would act as a booster between my phone and the car stereo

 in some ways, what I was playing with here was the synergies of the different headphones and the different amplification styles. But anyway, let's talk about the Asgard 3. the Asgard 3 is a much richer and warmer sounding amplifier compared to the Magnus, and I found the combination of the Sandaras with the Modius and the Asgard 3 a really enjoyable setup. The sound was immediately engaging, enjoyable, and it had a really nice sense of rhythm and pace to it

 A 199 dollar chip based dac should not have the poise and the finesse that this does. It really is a credit to shit's engineers that they've gotten such great sound out of this. For my money, I would not bother buying a D50, an E30, a D10, the D30 from Loxg. None of those I would bother with because for this price, it's the best dac out of all of those I've just mentioned, hands down

 [Music] The Modius is a 199 Us dollar fully balanced Dac, so for those in Australia, that means it's about 280 Australian dollars, not including any shipping. At that price, it's cheaper than something like the topping D50s, which whilst a good Dac, is not setting the world on fire. So to have a fully balanced stack at this price is pretty amazing. If it sounds any good and that's going to be the big question

 The Sundaras are a much leaner sounding headphone compared to the very rich Imperials, and while the very rich sounding Impurians were still able to be made edgy and a touch fatiguing by the Magnus, on the flip side, I was interested to see if the Sundaras, which are already quite lean and clean if they would show any sense of edge when paired up with the Asgard 3.. in some ways, what I was playing with here was the synergies of the different headphones and the different amplification styles. But anyway, let's talk about the Asgard 3

Schiit Modius Balanced DAC Review - This schiit is unfair!

 You wouldn't say that it's as powerful as it is and it has the same Ak-4490 Dac chip inside that you would find on the modi. On top of that, it also has a mic input, so it's basically an all-in-one solution that actually gears towards gamers because of the mic input and the whole black and red aesthetic. but that's neither here nor there. But and this is the most important butt of the entire video

 And it's simple. And it's just. I mean, for something that looks this good and it's built this well, I expect good things from it automatically just because of how it looks. It's good that it really delivers on what you need and it sounds really great

 It's versatile, It's beautifully built. It's going to just stay in a corner of your setup without you ever needing to be concerned about it just doing its thing, outputting either through Xlr or Rca to whatever you have hooked up to it. Excellent sound quality and you're going to be all kinds of happy with it. Oh, and also, don't forget that

So Modi becomes Modius Magnet becomes Magnus and you cannot say they're not at least trying to be consistent with the naming scheme of this you know, particular ladder. Anyway, when both the Magni and the Modi level up to the Magnus and the Modius, they gain access to extra abilities, which comes accompanied by a little bump in costs going for 199 dollars instead of the original 99 each, obviously
