This game is pretty rule heavy, so I wouldn't recommend if you are new to board games or if you like games that you can learn in 15-30 minutes. That being said, this game is great if you are a fan of longer war games (think Risk, Axis and Allies, War of the Ring). My favorite part about this game is that the event cards are all reflective of important political events at the time. You don't need to have a lot of history knowledge to enjoy the game, but the facts and tidbits along the way keep the game engaging when it gets drawn out

It captures the theme beautifully, as the USSR and the USA play tug of war with the world as the stage and ultimate prize. In your twilight struggle, you must manage crisis, take advantage of beneficial historical events, spread your influence, and try desperately to stave off nuclear war as the DEFCON rating drops and threatens armageddon. A word of warning to new players; the USSR starts off stronger than the USA, and this can be discouraging to new players. As the war progresses, the USA will regain their ground and give the USSR a real run for their money, so don't lose hope! If you are a strategy fan this is a must buy

Great quality game, nothing really for young kids to break. I play with my 6, 8, and 10 year old kids. Card artwork is awesome and there are small details on the plastic game pieces

The sense of despair that we experience when the other player has an advantage is thrilling, and it really gets us interested in the historic details that surround the Cold War era (we're both too young to have experienced it in person). Game Length - most people suggest around a 3 hour playtime, but our games have never been anywhere near that short. In addition, the box is worthless, because none of the pieces seem to fit well in the wells that should be designed to hold the pieces. The instructions are not at all helpful regarding proper storage. So for now, all the pieces are randomly mixed up and flying all over the inside of the box. The outside box is actually the same good quality as the Santorini game box, which is unfortunate, because the inside of the box isn’t functional, and I was planning on recycling the whole thing

Intricate with a bazillion little easy-to-lose pieces for any age, this Cold War game looked like a winner, but just ended in mutually assured destruction. My sister was reading the instructions out loud for literally 45 minutes while we tried to set up the game. Never got to play it. We gave up

I wanted to play it but had two problems: I have never been a boardgamer before so I was worried about the complexity and who on earth was going to sit down for a 3 hour boardgame with me? Ultimately, I took the plunge and ordered the game. I informed a friend that he was drafted into playing it with me several nights during our yearly get-together. The instruction manual was more of a reference and left us both confused about the game. Eventually, we just started following the example game and learning as we went

The only complaint I have is the player miniatures could be a little more interesting and the two gray sets should be a little more varied in color. Buy this game! (and watch out for the Medusa card!)

You have to do things which benefit your enemy. And yet, you still have to find a way to mitigate, and hopefully come out on top, even as you play the event that brings your enemy to the brink of victory. Have I played turns where the US player had entirely Soviet events, and the Soviet player had entirely US events? Yes, yes I have. Those are the most interesting rounds, and the most entertaining
