 The problem with the Tivoli was it had an annoying hiss at very low volume. When I would raise the volume to overcome this hiss, it would get too loud. I recently replaced it with the Sangean WR-11. It has none of this low volume hiss at all and is very pleasant to listen to at low volume

  Turning it on almost guaranteed to change tuning and or volume.  Two stars is a gift.

The adjacent channel suppression or reject is poor.  Signal capture is poor, sound is way to bass heavy.  I have had 2 Sangean radios in the immediate past and this is a HUGE disappointment.  Not even close to the quality of the previous radios

He's tried just about every piece of sampling gear over the years and arrived at the 707. For the price point there's definitely more bang for your buck than the 101 and the 6s. However, his advice to me is always "do everything you can with what you have and only upgrade gear if it's holding you back."

I recently got a TR-6s and MC-101 a couple weeks apart and while I like them both a lot (especially the TR-6s), I can’t help but thinking an MC-707 for $100 more would be a better route. I know I’d be losing out on the ACB, but the added functionality in the 707 (mainly the sampler) might be worth it in my eyes. For anyone that upgraded from the 101 or currently uses both, did you find anything you didn’t like about the workflow on the 707? Everything I’ve watched seems like it’s just less pressing of the shift button to get to certain functions although I could be missing something. Not gonna lie, parting with the TR-6s would be hard but I couldn’t justify keeping it and the 707 if I went that route.

I make music as a hobby and like the idea of a single unit with everything in it. I know I’ll want a sampler again at some point, and getting one with my current setup would put me well over the cost of an MC-707 by itself but also might be more functional (I’ve been eying a black box or the new circuit rhythm). I don’t have much experience with sound design so that part of the 707 isn’t a huge factor, but at the same time it could be a way for me to experiment and see if I like it. Any input or similar experiences is appreciated.

TR-6s and MC-101 vs MC-707 by itself

Great for the on-the-couch experience, extremely deep synth engine, lots of on-board ROM sounds, very solid sampling abilities (though not multisampling), slicing for percussion samples, velocity sensitive pads, multiple effects sections, easy resampling, constant updates, weird (but useful) scatter function, good sequencer, a so-called looper with timestretch, handy faders, assignable knobs... overall, despite a few limitations, it's still pretty good
