Matching dryer with our new washer, and like the washer, this seems to be a reliable and great-quality powerhouse with good capacity. Replaced an LG side-loader that even had a little warranty time left on it and outclassed it in one-load drying ability on exactly the same duct in the same (clean) condition. Abt was great throughout the process; got our business when they had the model we wanted when everybody else was telling us it'd be a month-or- longer wait for restock.

I just moved into an apartment complex with these installed. Dries fine. Runs fine. I wouldn't know about efficiency, but what gives it zero stars is a STUPID 30-second chime at finishing that you can't turn OFF! Running this near bedtime is out of the question, and I am seriously debating whether I want to risk breaking something unintentionally by going on a hand-tool hunt for this thing's speaker--to break that INTENTIONALLY

 If you value your sanity, do not buy this--or at least make sure your laundry room is well separate from your living space. Like, the opposite side of a 4 bedroom house, separate.

 Welcome. Today we'll be talking about our Whirlpool heat pump dryer technology.

 Here's a quick review of the different types of dryers available.

 Most familiar is the air-vented dryer, which typically uses an electric heating element to heat the air inside the dryer drum.

 Moisture is removed from the clothing, and the humid air is vented outside the dwelling.

 Next is the condensing dryer, which is ventless and also uses an electric heating element to heat the air.

 Finally, there's the heat pump dryer, which is the focus of this training video.

 A heat pump dryer uses heat pump technology to generate heat during the cycle.

 It is ventless, which makes it easy to install anywhere, and it is the most energy efficient option on the market.

 The second option removes the water through a washer drain stack at the back of the dryer.

 This is the most preferred method, needing no interaction from the consumer.

 The heat pump dryer comes with two lint filters.

 The primary filter is to be cleaned before every load, and a secondary filter needs to be cleaned after every five.

 A variation of the heat pump dryer is the hybrid heat pump dryer, which works very similarly to what we have just described.

 The key difference is that it offers faster drying times, with the addition of a heating element to heat the air passing through the dryer.

 The hybrid models use more energy than non-hybrid models, but still less than other dryer types.

 There are many benefits to using heat pump dryers.

 They are ventless, so ventilation ducts are not required.

 This allows for flexible installation, which is perfect for apartments or condos.

 Heat pump dryers are much more energy efficient than traditional air-vented or condensing dryers.

 And in heat pump dryers, your clothes are protected by lower temperatures and a gentler drying environment.

 Overall, heat pump dryers achieve a more efficient and effective drying process.

Whirlpool ventless dryer

  I'll be getting used to it, but if I had my druthers, I'd get a vented model.  The size is adequate for our family, and for the location it had to be placed in, it was satisfactory.  For our situation it was a good choice. I am checking the "yes" I would recommend it to a friend, but only if they didn't have an option to use a vented dryer

Ventless experience

Be aware that you need a floor drain or for the dryer to be near a utility sink, since the water from the condensation needs somewhere to go. Also, my 12 year old says there’s a high pitched whining sound while it’s running, but my ears are old and it doesn’t bother me, especially from the basement. Young kids have really sharp ears. 

We needed a ventless dryer

 There goes any electricity savings one might hope for to payback the additional upfront extra cost of this dryer. I have lowered the previous rating to one star.

 Now after 14 months, water is leaking out of the dryer under bottom beneath the second filter area and pooling under the dryer. The thing is perfectly level and the rear fan perfectly clean. So I either put up with water on the floor or inside my pedestal drawer every load or call a repairman who probably has no clue how to deal with a heat pump dryer. It’s an interesting dryer but poorly executed so I would avoid it in favour of a regular vented model if at all possible…something that can be easily kept clean and not need a professional to dismantle it…which could have been solved if the inner screen was removable
