 The weight is very similar between the Kimber which I carry all the time and so it was a rather good experience. I didn't really think about it as long as you've got the firearm covered properly with something like you know this wheel or there's many others. I've actually got a holster ordered for that that I'm going to try out, I've got a Kydex holster I want to check out too. But I tend to not carry my guns that have finishes like this

 This is one, I've had this one for a couple of years but they still make this exact same holster. There's many like it. If you go to Galco's website and just put in the Ruger, you can do it by gun so you can put the Ruger SP-101, you can do it by type, you can search by revolvers or even type a holster you'll see you can still get stuff like this all day long. Very basic and these aren't that expensive either, I don't remember what I paid for these, I think it's less than $35 I think

RUGER SP101...IT'S HARD TO BEAT A CLASSIC

 Hello again everybody and welcome back to the channel.

 Well we've got another pistol video for you here and today we're going to be taking a

 look at a pistol that's been around actually for a while and it's pretty popular still

 This particular one is chambered in.357 Magnum.

 A lot of people swear by revolvers, I'm one of them.

 I do carry revolvers a lot but I generally don't carry a larger version.

 And so in the interest of exploring the larger size we're going to take a look at the three

 inch Ruger SP-101 today and we're going to find out whether it's a good choice for concealed

 We're going to get into all that in just a minute.

 Now I know a lot of people who actually have this revolver and they swear by it.

 And it's actually been around for a long time.

 They've been making this particular revolver since 1989 and a variety of calibers.

 Now they've kind of changed the models that have been available over the years.

 They've introduced some, took them away and brought them back.

 But as of right now what they offer you can get this in of course.357 Magnum as you see

 They also do it in.327 Federal Magnum.38 Special.22 Long Rifle.

 And then of course you can get it in 9mm.

 If you get it in 9mm of course you're going to have to do the moon clip thing.

 But we'll get into all that whenever we talk about the features and everything.

 A lot of people swear about them like I say.

 And we always want to kind of start off by giving you a little size comparison here.

 Since I use these smaller revolvers a lot let's use that for comparison.

 And one that I carry a lot is my little Kimber here.

 This is the little Kimber K6S also in.357.

 But if you take a look here and we kind of put them down side by side.

 You know they're a different obviously design.

 You know you've got a smaller grip on the little Kimber here and a larger grip which

 We'll get to that when we talk about shooting it.

 But obviously there's a one inch difference in the barrel.

 But the main reason I want you to see this is because oddly enough the SP101 is bigger

 But as far as the way they feel they're pretty close in weight.

 There's only a few ounces difference between the Kimber and the SP101.

 In this case of course the Kimber is a six shot as you can see here.

 And we've discussed the capacity consideration before which certain people may have between

 But if you take a look you can see kind of looking overhead that they are very similar

 in size but the Ruger is just slightly thinner, slimmer.

 And that is obviously because of the cylinder or the trade off that you make there for the

 So it's just a tiny bit smaller but of course it has that larger grip, it's going to be

 So obviously we knew there was going to be a significant size difference between the

 two but as far as the weight goes if you're used to carrying something like this, a two

 inch revolver, at least a metal one, then going to something like this three inch is

 not going to be a huge deal because they actually feel very close to the same weight.

 Alright so we're going to get into the features here but before we do, of course we want to

 take a minute and thank our friends over at Don's Weaponry for providing us this beautiful

 example of this Ruger SP-101 and 357 for our tabletop review today.

 Don's Weaponry is a huge supporter of firearm safety and education and we can't thank them

 Alright, so one thing I like about revolvers is that they are very simple.

 There's a lot, in my opinion, there's less that can go wrong with a revolver than a semi

 auto although I do love my semi autos as well.

 I tend to carry a revolver a lot because they're so simple and in a situation with a defensive

 Now I often carry hammerless revolvers for carry.

 You know, I showed you the little kimber here which is a common staple.

 I have other smaller ones like the LCRs that are hammerless.

 I really like these, you know, because they're smooth there's nothing to snag.
