So I got a new snowboard and bindings and tried them out this weekend, Rossignol XV and Burton Step Ons. It was cold and somewhat icy conditions this week in Eastern Washington, so I couldn't test the Burton Step Ons in powder, but I was super impressed none the less at their performance. I felt super locked in , and it was really easy to get in and out of them. The Rossignol XV was amazing, I got it in 168W because I wanted something that was fast and could hold an edge on ice, and boy does it!

For new and experienced snowboarders with any questions at all about snowboarding including gear, learning, what to wear, where to go, what terminology is rad, etc.  Nothing is off limits!  You see that it's directional. So what you get is softer nose, stiffening up through the insert pack, then a slightly softer tail, then the center of the board, but all the flexes in the nose of this. There's a lot of torsional give to it, so you can really twist and drive it. Now, when it comes to stability on this thing, you're going to notice a lot of flap out in the nose and you're going to see that the chatter will resonate back underfoot

 Confused yet? Probably. Still going to keep going with this review. This board features Rosnall's Amptek Elite, or directional Amptek Elite, so you have a 30% rocker in the nose, camber underfoot, then a 10% rocker in the tail. Basically, you get that snap and pop of camber underfoot, but you get that ease of rocker out in the tip and the tail, just so you get better float

The Rossignol Sushi Snowboard Review

 This is a board for someone that understands that you're gonna be doing a lot of turning with this board. A lot of flexing it from the back foot. Really just steering it from the back foot. This board is really for the resort powder rider that spends more time in the trees

 In fact the front foot really doesn't engage the edge unless you're just doing mellow carves. If you're ripping hard carves it comes completely from the back foot. This is a board for someone that understands that you're gonna be doing a lot of turning with this board. A lot of flexing it from the back foot

 You'll notice right in front of the first insert pack that it starts to drastically stiffen up as it heads to the tail but there still is a decent amount of torsional flex. This board features Rossinal's light core which does a great job at dampening micro vibrations but with that big rockered nose you're still going to notice some flutter and chatter in there. It doesn't really resonate back under the front foot which is nice. Overall this board is lively yet damp where it counts

 This makes kick turns a breeze, and helps to save energy on the uphill. Even though this board is a directional twin, it floats well in powder due to the rocker tip and tail. The dual sidecut creates two additional contact points, that allow you to dig your edge in on steep and icy terrain, and I have been thankful for this on several occasions. Additionally, the true twin nature of this board allows you to ride switch and regular with ease, and to butter and spin off drops and pillows
