I've taken two photographs/\s/and I can look at each one and go well that one's/\s/ close or is it that one and try and make some/\s/kind of assessment. but when it comes to audio/\s/ to sound to music, we can't do that because we/\s/were never at the original event. So if we're/\s/ trying to compare two dax dak A and Dak B and/\s/asking ourselves which one is the most accurate/\s/ which one is closer to the original event, we have/\s/no earthly idea because we weren't in the studio/\s/ with the band, we weren't even in the control/\s/room with the engineer who's listening through/\s/ different kinds of speakers, different hardware/\s/setup, and then most music is sort of pieced/\s/ together in software

 So that makes the rme adi fs/\s/ more of a movable feast than similarly/\s/priced rivals. I can't think of any other dac/\s/ at this price point that does so much/\s/on top of excellent d a conversion/\s/ and excellent headphone amplification. I mean I/\s/plugged my Campfire Audio Vega 2020s into here and/\s/ just wow. It's just so much better than my phone/\s/and my phone's not bad As an Lg V40, it has a very/\s/ decent dac and headphone amplifier behind here/\s/but this is just light years ahead of that/\s/ So in terms of value for money, I have never come/\s/across a dac beneath a grand that offers so much/\s/ for that 950 euros

 I mean, if/\s/this deck hadn't sounded as good as it did, I/\s/ might not be so enthusiastic about it, but it does/\s/it really is a great sounding piece. RME's ADI-2 DAC FS is *the* DAC to beat at €1K

streaming what streaming for the last four weeks 
five weeks i have been playing nothing but cds  

in my lounge listening room here using a 
ps audio direct stream memory player which  

just has a digital output and i've been feeding 
that into a dac which we'll come to in a moment  

but i want to start today talking about cameras 
so this is my canon eos r and i use a range of  

lenses for my photographs and then more recently 
for slider shots in these videos but we use  

different kinds of lenses for different kinds of 
shots well olaf does because he knows more than me  

with this camera with stills on here right now 
i've got a canon lens it's a 50 mil and if i  

take a photograph of olaf now now what i like 
about this lens is that the tonality of the  

photos is a little bit warm but also a little 
bit soft so it's not really kind of pinpoint  

accurate with details it's just a little 
bit fuzzy at the edges and i like that but  

if we take this lens off if i connect a sigma 
lens now this is a 35 mil so this is obviously  

a wider lens now what i like about this lens 
is that the tonality is different to the canon  

in that it's it leans a little bit towards the 
cooler side just a little bit just a tinge and  

the other difference is it is pinpoint sharp it is 
super detailed everything is very crisply defined  

more so than the canon i would say that the 
canon the way it presents a photo looks more like  

evening light or late afternoon light whereas the 
sigma gives me the impression of a sort of cooler  

not stronger but crisper morning light now 
if i have to ask myself which one of these  

lenses is the most accurate i can probably do 
that because i'm here right now looking at all  

that behind the camera i've taken two photographs 
and i can look at each one and go well that one's  

close or is it that one and try and make some

is probably closer to the original event in most

at the end of november i bought a new dac the rme 
adi 2 fs now the fs version refers to i think the  

femtoclock timing inside this dac it's got an 
akm i'm looking at my notes here 4493 dac chip  

and it comes with a remote control and it's made 
right here in germany now this dac comes with a  

very hefty manual it's an english and in german 
but it's just it's insane this manual is both a  

dream and a nightmare because it's exceptionally 
detailed it gives you a strong background on  

what the engineers have tried to do with this 
dac it also includes a suite of measurements  

that's upside down but so i don't know why 
anybody would ever measure this dac because  

you've got them here unless you don't believe the 
manufacturer of course but this manual i think  

we're going to measure in a moment is heavier 
than the dac itself so the dac weighs 912.6 grams

330.4 grams so i lied and it is nowhere near the 
same way as the deck so obviously my ability to  

assess the way it products with my hands is 
somewhat questionable anyway this is the dac  

you can see it has a 6.4 i call it 6.4 millimeter 
headphone socket some people call this 6.3 three  

and a half mil headphone socket this is just 
designed for iems it's meant to be low noise  

and then on the back we have rca outputs and 
balanced outputs so really this is like one output  

that's a second that's a third and with this 
unit's internal dsp we can apply if we want to  

a five-band parametric eq to each of these outputs  

individually separately so they can all have 
different settings which is why the manual is  

so big because you can do so many things to 
each of the individual outputs on this unit  

which is pretty cool now we'll get to headphone 
listening in a bit but i did the bulk of my  

listening to this as a dac completely flat so 
no parametric eq applied and with a loudspeaker  

system so with the kef ls50 meta powered by a 
mytek brooklyn amp the preamp was the ps audio bhk  

then before that this is the dac and then as we 
know from my recent weeks with cds fed by the ps  

audio direct stream player oh almost forgot three 
digital inputs so we've got usb coax tarzlink
