When setting the time or the alarm, if you overshoot your target, you can't back up, which is annoying. Despite these limitations, the alarm is super easy to set up, and the price reflects its minimalistic design.

Moreover, the alarm volume and tone are both fixed, and it lacks the memory for more than one alarm at a time. While that might seem too simplistic, it is just what those traveling light need and no more.

At first I tried a "dimmable" Timex, but the dimmer switch didn't work, so back it went to Amazon. Then I tried a clock with "amber" lights whose dim setting was bright enough to read by (no joke!). Another return. Finally, desperately, I tried this

That way, whether setting the alarm, or even the time, you just have to move the switch all the way up for lock. There's no trying to make sure the switch is in the middle position and it's not pushed a little too far. If it were pushed a little too far (into the time set position (all the way up)), one would never know it, as there would be nothing to indicate so. It's just a bad design with the switch layout

(I haven't used it for travel yet.) The clock is very nicely designed and easy to use. When switched to "off" and with the lid shut, pressing the light button won't do anything, so you can put it in your luggage or your pocket without the battery wearing down. Then when you switch it "on" again, it's already showing the right time
