5 years and mastered her balance long ago. We decided she was ready to try pedals (without training wheels), but had a hard time finding a bike that was a good size for her. We didn't want to spend $200+ on a bike for a 4 year old, but the less expensive bikes just don't fit right. 14" and 16" bikes were too big

She was too scared not being able to touch the ground with her feet when sitting on the bike (after a crash off a 14"), and the smaller 12" ones of the cheaper brands had her all scrunched up - they all seemed so short horizontally. I did some research finding bike reviews for 12-16" bikes, and this scored right along side a lot of the $200+ bikes

5 year old, who needed a 12" bike without training wheels. (It did come with training wheels, but we did not use them.) The fit is perfect without her being scrunched up, and she has room to grow with raising the seat. It seems built to last, and I expect to be using it still when my 3 year old is ready for pedals, and the new baby years down the road

 The score of 4 is because the bike needed serious adjusting. The front and year wheel bearings (cones) were too tight. Chain was too tight. Headset was also too tight

Bought this for a 4 year-old granddaughter who was already riding a 12" bike w/o training wheels. The bike was well-packaged, easy to assemble, and proved a notch above the usual kiddie bikes in terms of quality. I expect this bike will be great for my granddaughter and then be enjoyed by other, younger grandkids. The green color and style seem gender neutral, so that is another plus

The bike I received had a damaged part (the nut that holds the front fork to the frame) and a missing part (the bolt/nut that tightens the seat down tube). I attempted to contact customer support but quit after being on hold for over 30 minutes. I remedied the problems myself with a quick trip to my local bike shop for some parts. And the bike is really cute and well-made! If all the parts were included and undamaged, I would give this product a high rating

Weight-wise you won't get much lighter going to a hybrid and you'll definitely lose some capability. I'm guessing by your description he's on a 24" Riprock, which comes with 2.8" wide tires I believe. I'd try a smaller rear tire before buying another bike

My 9yr old has started mountain biking and we bought him a Specialized MTB but it is way too heavy and tires too fat to enjoy riding.  I was looking at the run of the mill Cannondale 24 inch and the Guardian Airos, but I am hesitant because of how skinny the tires appear and no front suspension. Does anyone have a suggestion for a lightweight hybrid 24 inch that would be mountain capable? He is just starting into the mtb riding, so does not need tons of travel or fat tires. TIA

 to show you a comparison to my fists, they're 2.8 inches wide, they are really wide, and

 now we can talk about some of the things that, well I'll start talking about some of, and

 we have these two little lights that can reflect little reflectors in my front and back tires,

 but and yeah, we, yeah, so I'm just gonna show you guys, now I'm gonna talk to you about
