Perfect jacket

I got this for my daughter so she can endeavor in her rock climbing activities and STAY WARM!  To test it out she went on the back of a motorcycle in December with this coat on and it kept her toasty warm!

 This isn't as packable/small as I had hoped for and the screenprint of the RAB label is pretty pronounced. I know it's a little thing, but I prefer more subtle labels.  Could be a good jacket, if you a) don't need something really small/packable and b) order the right size.

Pay attention to sizing

 In fact, it's actually celebrating its 10 year anniversary with Rab. This year and they've, given it a complete design overhaul, so the biggest change is the fit. So previously, the micro light Alpine was made up of two panels of fabric, so one in the front and one in the back from this winter. However, the jacket is now made up of four panels, so one in the front and one in the back and then one in either side

 Now this is designed to be quite a snug piece because it's an insulating piece, but you also should have room to get another layer or two underneath for the really chilly days. So the microlight is a lightweight breathable and packable down jacket. So it fits really really nicely underneath the shell jacket, but also works really well as a standalone jacket on the dry cold days. So that's it guys

 So you got the two draw cords down here and that just allows for all of that warm air around your head should just be locked in moving on to the pockets. You have one chest pocket in the top and that's where you'll find your stuff sack. So this is really really great for quickly packing down your jacket and keeping it in your rucksack on long trips. When you don't really know how the weather's going to pan out

 So the fully insulated hood will take a helmet at a push but fits really really snug over your head, if you're not wearing one. Now, that's due to the elastic bands in the back and just brings in the hood and just sits really snug, it's also adjustable in the front. The shell and liner are of the same gossimer fabric, which is why I suggest this not be used as an outer layer for, say, hiking or backpacking.  It'S not the thickest. It is a thin feather and down jacket. You can see there that I can pinch right through it, so that shows that it is very much a lightweight jacket. It'S not one to wear in frosty weather, for example

 The jacket has an elasticated bottom to help prevent drafts and the same at the cuffs. As well just lightly elasticated on the inside, there are these large internal pockets which are quite deep, they're, so good for carrying maps and leaflets and other small lightweight items. The jacket is very well made. It'S well stitched throughout, in fact not a stitch out of place

 So despite them looking very similar, there is one significant difference. This one cost in the region of 100 pounds or so, whereas this one cost a fraction of that, I won't say which brands. This is it's not one of the top brands such as Rab or Mountain Equipment, but equally it's not one of the cheapest brands either. But these two jackets are identical apart from just one difference and that's the price
