(Updated) The problem with these goggles is the material of the inner lens. The acetate is a thin piece of plastic that easily gets smeared, scratched and hazy. Once that happens the dual lens concept is pointless. Yes, they are very less likely to get foggy, but vision will be compromised

It would be better if the inside lens were also made of polycarbonate as the outer lens. These goggles are also uncomfortable over time because the gasket fits too close around the eye sockets

 Voids and gaps allow wind and dust to get into them. If you sweat a lot or wear them in the rain and are really hot, there can be some fogging and worse, the perspiration or the rain water can get between those lenses and stay stuck there, sloshing around. The inner acetate "lens" (actually just a hard plastic sheet) has to be removed with the water being pressed out. This can cause scratching on the acetate and keep the glasses hazy

 In the end, we still prefer the $50-cheaper I/O Mag, as not everyone needs the added field of view. But the 4D is a close alternative, and we do like the inclusion of the hard-sided storage case. Another premium design to consider is Anon’s M4 Toric MFI. Like the Airbrake and M4 Toric above, the Contact is also a large fit, which can feel more cumbersome on the face. For $60 more, we think the 4D Mag is the better all-around performer, even without the boost in downward visibility. And for this season, Giro released the Contour and Contour RS (short for “reduced size”), which have a sleeker frameless build, toric shape, and more intuitive magnetic lens-change system for $270 (although we still prefer Smith’s ChromaPop optics)

 Clarity and Optical Quality Like most goggles in the $200+ price range, the 4D Mag comes with two premium lenses that can be swapped out depending on conditions. There are a range of ChromaPop options to choose from, but I opted for the Everyday Red Mirror (25% VLT), which also includes the Storm Yellow Flash low-light lens (65% VLT). Overall, like our previous experiences with Smith’s ChromaPop designs, both lenses provided fantastic clarity in a range of conditions both on and off trail. They do a nice job highlighting bumps even in shadows and have a very natural look and feel that’s almost HD-like

I got these goggles for a crazy deal on an off season sale to replace my anon m4 goggles that had damaged lens. The cost of a new anon lens and the price of these on sale wasn’t much so I figured I’d give em a shot and couldn’t be happier I did. I was just simply hoping for better ventilation with this goggle as my anons would always fog up on me and truthfully wasn’t expecting a vast difference with the 4D technology having come from a large frame goggle already but all I can say is wow. The increased field of view is ridiculous even over the anon m4 and the ventilation system is by far superior

It is hard to justify the price for these but these are the highest end goggle I’ve ever worn hands down and worth every penny, even more so if you can find them on sale. If anyone is looking for a high end goggle and debating between these or anon m4, I would say to go with the 4D mag as the pros of this goggle outweigh the benefits of having anon mfi
