The straps put strain on my traps. I feel like the straps aren’t long enough. But the 25L might do the trick.

Tortuga Outbreaker Backpack
Thus, features that stow straps are somewhat unnecessary for a conscious traveler who knows what kind of pros/cons they will get with this kind of pack, instead of a "do-it-all" pack that overcompensates. 6. The loading system would ideally be a front-loading clamshell, such as the Outbreaker. This is where the "niche" nature of this ideal pack would be evident, as there are almost no suitcase style packs that make an effort to save weight.

Hiking

Sharing my silly bag problem with my fellow addicts. I gathered up all of my various bags and pouches, and it made me realize how ridiculous things have gotten. Might be time to downsize my collection. Sharing a few of my favorites and will add a full list in the comments.
The comfiest backpack I've ever had. If I'm doing a serious dayhike, this is the bag I'm taking.
Tortuga Outbreaker Backpack
I'm traveling with my Tortuga Outbreaker now, which is about 4.6lbs when empty. The bag is nowhere close to being fully filled, and already feels like a sack of bricks. The heavy bag weight is a trend I notice amongst many popular travel bags too (e.g Gorucks), that over-compensate on durability without regard for comfort in being more lightweight. If ultralight backpacks are able to withstand the rigors of backcountry hiking, surely there's a middle ground where someone can make travel bags aimed at retaining durability whilst stripping as much weight as possible?.

Tortuga Outbreaker Backpack
Bag for 15 year old headed to Europe
Tortuga brand backpacks. I have a 45L Outbreaker and love it for urban/vacation travel. Their backpacks open like a traditional suitcase, giving you much easier access and packing/repacking ability. I really like the quality and have recommended them to lots of friends.

Tortuga Outbreaker Backpack
Wheeled versus backpack - or a combo
I used the Tortuga Outbreaker for years, but eventually I switched to a spinner carryon and backpack combo. Here's why:. Money stopped being my primary concern, and comfort became number one. I don't mind paying to check a roller if I have to, but using the rolling bag with the backpack slid onto the handle is so much easier and more comfortable of an experience for me.
