The material on this vest was very flimsy and I was not impressed with the durability of the fabric. The vest sized smaller than large, and was too snug for a 200 pounder like me. REI was very good to accept the return.

This vest is made with a 20D, 100 percent
polyester rip stop exterior and the inside

is a 44D, 100 percent nylon taffeta material.
So it is a really nice, durable exterior shell

with a lightweight feel. And the inside is
nice and comfortable and it lays very soft

against the body. So it has got a good, casual
look and feel as well as an adventurous attitude,

really nice, you know, kind of dual purpose
vest here with the transcendent vest. We do

and when it... you know, when you are not

using it, you can pack it down to nearly nothing.

Let’s take a look at some of the other features
you have got going on.

We have got a full length front zipper with
a little storm flap behind it and that comes

all the way up to a nice zipper garage at
the collar. So it lays nicely next to skin.

It is nice and comfortable and it doesn’t
chafe or rub uncomfortably.

The collar is lined as well with a nice tricot
lining, so it lays soft against the skin as

well and provides some good comfort there.
And it is insulated as well so you get that

neck protection from those colder climates.

We do have zippered chest pocket here. It
is kind of a hidden pocket, which is nice,

so when it is zipped up you can’t really
tell, but there is a relatively sizable pocket

there for smaller items and, like I said,
it has got that hidden pocket there so it

is not really notice-able when not in use.

Down lower we do have two zippered hand warmer
pockets as well. So those are some fleece

lined pockets. They are really comfortable
and cozy and the down insulation is ac-tually

on the outside of the pocket so it provides
some nice warmth for your hands if you are

at the bottom so you can really cinch the

vest down at the bottom and, you know, get
a proper fit. If you are wearing a harness

or a backpack this will prevent the vest from
riding up on you, you know, when you don’t

want it to. So a nice fit feature there down
at the bottom of the vest.

This vest does have a standard fit. So it
is not an athletic piece, but it is definitely

not a loose cut piece. I have definitely got
some room to layer here, you know, under or

over. So I could put low profile base layers
underneath, maybe a micro fleece and easily

put a softer hard shell on top for the extra
weather protection. It is... you know, I am

wearing a medium. So I normally do wear medium
and it is fit very nicely. You know, a nice

com-fortable fit. Like I said, not to snug,
but not very loose at all.
