 We chose the osprey larger capacity bag that fit closer to the back and it was perfect, still fit as a carry on.

This is probably a great pack for hiking - not so great for airplane travel due to the fact that the pack protrudes so much from the backpack piece. There is an arch mesh where there is just a ton of wasted space. I'm sure that the function is for more support, but it just wasn't the right fit for us. I wasn't sure if it would fit in the overhead bins because of the arch

 so they have these again. two little/\s/ buckles here on your main pack. there. again/\s/is two little buckles that easily snap in so hands-free your backpack is just hanging out/\s/it's very comfortable

 you just have to unclip here and there is/\s/a zipper at the front that you can zip a smaller/\s/ backpack into. so start with the smaller backpack/\s/one really great thing about this is that it is/\s/ so compact I use it around town all the time even/\s/when I'm not traveling, it fits really well I have/\s/ a 1 liter Nalgene that I always carry with me it/\s/fits perfectly in here. They also have front water/\s/ bottle holders I don't finally spit my 1 liter/\s/Nalgene so I normally just put garbage or things I/\s/ need easy access to anything that keeps me quickly/\s/in and out. There's also this small pocket at the/\s/ front here and it fits quite a lot of things

 there. again/\s/is two little buckles that easily snap in so hands-free your backpack is just hanging out/\s/it's very comfortable. One thing is is that it/\s/ does like bounce a little bit so it does kind of/\s/do that. but again I found this was the best part/\s/ of it

 So when you open/\s/it up, the zippers are really smooth and they don't/\s/ get caught very easily this time. Pill in here/\s/right now so when you open it up, it's pretty roomy/\s/ there is a laptop spot in the back and so when/\s/I was traveling in Southeast Asia in Australia/\s/ I had my MacBook Air which is a 13-inch laptop and/\s/it fit perfectly here. I Also was carrying my Kobo/\s/ which I put in this front pocket is before that/\s/and it is padded is padded on the backside more/\s/ so than the front, but I never had any issues with/\s/that at all. It fits quite a lot of things

 high up in the Andes, there's a lot of varied climates means you need more stuff, you know, different kinds of clothes and gear and 40 is just a little bit too small for that. Also, if you're just looking for a backpack that's great for like, camping and travel and hiking, I think it also really works. It costs a little bit more than the standard far point, but if I wanted to invest in a backpack, especially in a backpack, that has a very high comfort level, uh, then I think this is a very worthy investment. All right, I think that sums it up

 Uh, it's quite a chunker. As you can see, I normally travel with maybe a 40 liter backpack. I like to travel light, but that's when I'm staying only in accommodation and not doing any trekking or not doing any camping or whatever. This is more of an adventure pack, clearly because it is a little bit bigger, uh, than your average like carry-on sized bag, but it's still still, um, pretty manageable at 4 55 liters when you open it and you can open it along the side

 but for most of the hikes I was like just walking around and and the weight was equally distributed along my body which made it easy to carry and I was really impressed with that. So if you want that extra comfort and you're maybe a bit worried if you're gonna walk for longer distances with your backpack that you're gonna get sore shoulders or whatever. and this is a really nice upgrade from the default, uh, farpoint. So in conclusion, uh, when I think of this backpack, I think about what scenarios

 Now of course, this isn't just for trekking, but I thought that it would be important to use this on a trekking trip to see how it would, uh, how it would pan out. Um, so first let's look at the size. Uh, it's quite a chunker. As you can see, I normally travel with maybe a 40 liter backpack

 I typically put my charger and everything in here and let me show you my computer. So this is my computer. It's kind of a small computer, but nonetheless a computer and it fits in here perfectly. And I'll show you if you have any other computers exactly where it goes

 it was in the hundred of dollars and compared to anything else out there. if you watch other reviews on what backpack you should bring, some backpacks are like three four hundred dollars and I'm sorry, but I'm not gonna buy a 400 backpack personally to go backpacking because usually if you're backpacking, that might mean you're on a budget like I'm paying 16 a night for hostels. I don't want to pay 500 for a backpack. you know what I'm saying

 I think I brought this around Honestly, most of my days it saved me. I love this thing. When I was looking for a backpack, I also needed something that had a place to put my laptop. and it does have a little laptop pocket right in here so it does stretch out

 women's size and shape and stuff other in terms of the spacing in the bag. I will show you this now so let me spin it round. the small backpack in the back. Here you have as you me start here if some small little compartments here we can put things up

 I've seen online so many different amounts that this bag is going for I got mine off Amazon for 90 pounds However, I've seen some of them are a hundred and twenty pounds. I'm gonna leave a link in the description of where I got my bag but yeah I think around 80 although up to a hundred and twenty you can get this bag before if I'm honest, don't worry about the price too much. This is gonna have all your belongings in and everything that you own. So if you're gonna spend some money before you go, don't worry about the clothes so much in my opinion

 So about this, you have that one there and you're left with this which is another backpack kid. So then putting it back on is sort of like a jacket. So you have this end bit just here. This attaches into the zip

 You zip all of this up and it tucks away and to keep it down I'll show you how that works. So you literally fold it down and then you roll it like this. it's like a little Bowl or pouch and it literally velcro's underneath and it stays there. and then you have your backpacks here which you can adjust and you have the waist adjustments here which go around and clip it and that's another thing here

 There and like I said, if you don't need them, you could take them away and leave them at home. I do want to mention that this pack does exceed the carry-on requirements for, or restrictions for, domestic airlines, so it will need to be checked if you plan to take it on an airplane. Overall, it's very convenient and very simple. It offers enough organization without being too much it's great for adventure travel or just going from place to place

 There are two buckles right on the front here, one at the top one at the bottom, and there is a zipper that holds this pack on. You can simply unzip it and the whole day pack will come off. So it's a really convenient little pack to use as your personal item when you're going on to a plane or a train, any type of travel and we've got a suspension system on the back of this pack as well. So, just lightweight shoulder straps padded, shoulder straps and a padded ventilated back panel, so very comfortable, lightweight and flexible

 On the inside of this day. Pack, there is a lot of organization so open it up. I'Ve just got a jacket in there now to kind of stuff. It out to show the size i'll set that aside on the inside, we do have a large laptop sleeve in the back

 So it's a padded sleeve. You can easily store a laptop or tablet they're, small laptops. Might I add, and a mesh pocket for some additional organization so overall, very large capacity with a lot of organization? We do have a scratch free pocket on the front here so great for some glasses and three players or anything you don't want to get scratched or damaged. There is a pocket there very nice place to store additional items and, as I mentioned, those stretch pockets on the outside, so very convenient little day

 I like that this pack can handle excess weight such as when you have excess food or water in the pack. If I got another pack I would definitely choose one that offers a similar feature.

**Overview**: This is long term review of the Zpacks Arc Blast. I got this pack as a Christmas gift in 2018. I've used it for hundreds of miles and at least a dozen trips. I was not involved in the customer service or ordering of the pack other than I asked for it for Christmas and was under the tree in time for Christmas

The pack has proven itself to be durable under bad bushwhacking conditions. I have scraped it pretty badly on trees and brush and only the outer polyester layer of fabric has [punctured or torn]([URL REMOVED] The inner layer of DCF is unscathed. Under general scratchy scraping through brush there is no damage whatsoever.

- ZPacks Arc Blast - Sort of unbeatable for the frame comfort at the weight. Genuinely waterproof. Pricey. I don't own one, but I've tried it on for half a day to feel it out

 In case you want to hear what "waterproof" really means; I'll tell you, it's this, not something that requires a rainfly - I've taken this pack through its paces on really demanding long trips, including one that required ~50 river crossings in about 3 days and I've left it outside my bivy overnight in drenching rainstorms. Never had wet gear. I think it holds weight well and undersells the interior space because you can extend the roll-top.

 Pricey. I don't own one, but I've tried it on for half a day to feel it out. Reminds me a bit of the airflow on my Exos frame. The DCF is thin, but if you're not putting serious thru-hiking miles on it, you probably won't have durability issues

Right now I'm between the Mariposa 60 Backpack, 40-60L Sierra Designs Flux Capacitor, or Osprey Atmos 50 or 60 but I'm open for other considerations. Max capacity around 60L and max weight of 5 pounds (ideally around 3 pound mark). I'm looking for something with decent exterior pockets including hip pockets and easy access pockets/mounts for bear spray. I've been trying to minimize gear weight to make the weight of my camera gear more manageable but if a pack can make a load more comfortable then that would be okay too. This pack would be for multi-day trips through significant elevation changes. Water resistance out of the box would be favorable too. I'm also slightly below the average male height in the US for size considerations. If you have any experience with these packs or have another you'd recommend that would be great.

Looking to Upgrade Pack

On paper, this pack still won out. Weight, load carry capacity, variable torso length and hipbelt size, cuben fiber qualities(weight, waterproof, durability), ventilated back panel are all key features that in conjunction with eachother make this pack stand out against the rest. 

The ventilated mesh back panel is a must for me. I'm in Southern California so prevention of lava back is a big deal. If you're in a colder climate, then I can see how this isn't important. If I am hiking in winter then I'm taking my Xenith 75 where I have to carry more weight and back sweat isn't an issue (I'd never take this in warm weather)

 I've noticed that the pack is more stable downhill from this change. The main thing is being able to access items while hiking. Things move down so things I used to put in the hood I put in the side pockets, more sensitive items I put in the hipbelts. 

Excellent Pack

 So I recently got out my old Relay and repaired some holes and added KS50-like carbon poles (that don't make an arc) on the pack and a proper large pocket for the back and some other features. It's even better now. It's getting old but it's got new life.

I backpack a bunch. One AT thru hike and a bunch of other stuff. Here are the backpacks I have used so far.

1. Osprey Talon 44. Still don't understand why this is not a more used ultralight pack. It was my pack for 2190 miles. It was trashed, I am not sentimental, I threw it away after my thru hike.
2. On the last 170 miles of the Long Trail I used the Granite Gear Vapor Trail 60 limited edition. Bought it because it was cheap. It worked well but wanted to get lighter. I let a friend borrow it a few months ago don't know if I will get it back or use again.
3. Gossamer Gear G4-20. Used it 14+ nights so far replaced the back pad with Various CCF pads. Worked well but not 5+ days or during the winter because of lack of frame. I still own this and will use again for everything 3 season less than 3 or 4 days.
4. Just ordered a HMG 3400 Southwest. I am thinking great winter and 5+ day pack and good for places you need a bear can.
