I don't bother with other backpack manufacturers anymore. Ospreys have been consistently good to me; their price premium is worth the quality and peace of mind to me, (though that equation won't be the same for everyone). Perfect size for what I needed! I have a through hike size pack at 70 Liters but wanted a backpacker that fits as carryon for airline travel and easy stowage on train, bus, etc! Perfect size for long trips if you pack smart and the fact that the front opens all the way down makes packing and getting things out when fully loaded an ease! With less dangling in the outside, it also makes the traveling and stowage easy. 10 days in Italy- No problem!

Great pack for backpacking

 It is sizeable enough for camping out overnight or having a long day in the great outdoors and has plenty of pockets and zippers so all of your belongings are secure. It is on the pricier side for backpacks but quality is everything when it comes to comfort and safety.

Plenty of storage, still incredibly lightweight and WELL-CONSTRUCTED and DESIGNED. It has been put to lots and lots of good use during this pandemic when taking to the trails is not only a pleasure but a sense of normalcy. The mesh back panel provides ventilation and the fleece-lined shoulder harness is comfortable all-day long. A webbing hip belt with mesh wings and a sternum strap keep the pack stable, even when the wearer is running full tilt. The pack has number of pockets to keep your kid organized. The external zippered pocket is perfect for snacks or lip balm while the internal zippered pocket is good for small items that need a more secure home. Based on other reviews as well as the tech specs of this pack I bought this for my 10 yr old who had a variety of adventures this summer! She used this as her carry-on for a trip to Southeast Asia - carried all her on-the-plane activities and then became her day-pack for day trips as well as her 'suitcase' for a 5 day river trip in Sarawak. She then used it as a full-bore backpack on our back-country trip in Glacier. She was able to carry her sleeping bag, crazy creek chair, and some clothes in the main compartment as well as various daily needs e.g

Great for kids beginning backpacking pack!

 Success!!! Reference child is 46 inches and weighs about 50lbs and the adjustments are at the minimum, construction is good, should last him a couple of years just long enough to break in my second child ;-)  Remember, when introducing children to backpacking start short, keep the pack light (rule of thumb keep the pack under 20% of their body weight), take frequent breaks and above all have fun! First off, this pack is kind of expensive for a kids pack but it is the only pack that I found that has a suspension system.  It keeps the weight off my boy's shoulders and puts it where it belongs, on his hips. He was using a school type backpack before I bought him this and with 5-8lbs would tell me his shoulders hurt after about a mile or two.  Since using this we've been on a few 4-6 mile hikes and I don't hear anything about sore shoulders with about 10lbs
