The PlayStation 5 Keeps Selling Out But Will These? Nike PG5 'PlayStation' Detailed Review!

 Hi everyone, this is Miks from Miks and Balph and today we have a detailed look and review on the Nike PG5 PlayStation.

 So with that out of the way, let's take a look at Paul George and PlayStation's third collaboration on the Nike PG5 PlayStation.

 The Nike PG5 PlayStation, like I said, is the latest collaboration between Nike and Sony.

 A lot of people did see this newest collab coming because the PG2 and PG2.5 were pretty successful and the PlayStation 5 also did release pretty recently.

 It is still quite impossible to get the PlayStation 5 for retail nowadays and I have tried, but you know, I guess I'll have to settle for the Nike PG5.

 I always did find it pretty interesting though why PlayStation collaborated on the Nike PG sneakers and not like the Kyries or like the Lebrons.

 It's not that I have anything against the Nike PG shoes, it's just that, you know, Paul George isn't the biggest signature athlete from Nike and you do have Kyrie, you have KD, and you have LeBron as well.

 The one good thing about these PlayStation and Paul George collaborations is that since they are on a PG sneaker, they are relatively cheap.

 And I also do really commend Nike for not raising the price on this shoe, even though it is a collaboration with PlayStation.

 But to take a look at the Nike PG5, especially in this PlayStation edition, let's take a look at the tech specs.

 So starting off with the traction, the Nike PG5 has the exact same traction pattern as the Nike Kobe9.

 And as most of you already know by now, the Nike Kobe9 definitely had one of the best traction of all time.

 And since the Nike PG5 kind of stole or kind of borrowed that traction pattern, and the rubber on the shoe feels pretty similar to the Kobe9, it is a freaking beast on cart.

 The only downside to the traction pattern is I don't think it'll last that long because the grooves are pretty shallow and thin.

 But while they last, you will be having some of the best traction of all time.

 Then for the cushion, the Nike PG5 makes use of a full-length phylon midsole and a full-length air strobel unit.

 The phylon on the PG5 is adequately soft and does compress quite a bit.

 But most of the comfort that you feel on the shoe and the impact protection come from the full-length air strobel unit.

 The air strobel unit is directly underneath your foot, so you really do feel it right away.

 And when you start playing, it does feel super comfy. It has a little bit of plushness to it.

 And it definitely absorbs a lot of impact.

 It is quite amazing because Nike's air technology has been around since the 80s.

 And you know, even to this day, they still find ways to update the Nike Air and implement them in different ways to make it suitable for today's athletes.

 The cushion on the PG5 is definitely very comfy.

 It isn't as bouncy and springy as a Zoom strobel.

 But in my opinion, it is way more plush.

 Then for the material, sadly, even though this is a collaboration, the materials still aren't up to par with, you know, what I would prefer.

 Because you do have that plastic-infused mesh here at the toe and the midfoot panel.

 And it does have that sort of crunchy feel and it kind of scrunches up on your foot when you first wear it.

 But the good thing is, the more that you wear a shoe like this, the more that plastic-y kind of mesh kind of softens.

 So you definitely just have to give it a little bit of time to break in.

 Then these wings in the middle of the forefoot and midfoot, as well as this heel panel, are made of this fused material that was kind of made to mimic like a synthetic leather.

 And they are very thin, but at least there is like a change of materials.

 And on the tongue and ankle collar, you actually have this sort of synthetic nubuck.

 And it doesn't really feel anything near how a true nubuck would.

 But it is still pretty nice to touch because it is very smooth.

 And both the tongue and sock liner are pretty well padded.

 Then lastly, for the other materials, you do have fuse around the eye stays.

 Pretty basic oval laces and a nylon pull tab at the back.

 Then for fit and sizing, I did go through to size once again with the Nike PG5 PlayStation.

 In my other pair, there was a little bit of tightness at first because of these sort of foam pieces that come up.

 But after just a few times of playing in it, it kind of did break in and gave me a really good one-to-one fit.

 The toe does bubble up a little bit and I don't think you can fix this by going down half a size.

 Because I just think it's the nature of the material since they are a little bit plastic-y.

 It didn't really bother me that much because I do feel like it does fit through to size.

 So for my recommendation on the sizing, if you do have a narrow foot or a normal width foot, definitely go through to size.

 Then if you are a widefooter, there are quite a few places on the shoe that could pinch your foot.

 So I would definitely recommend going up half a size.

 Then for the aesthetic details on the shoe, since this is a PlayStation collaboration, there are a few details that are unique to this colorway.

 The traction on the PlayStation edition is a little bit different because it is translucent.

 And it has this really nice blue gradient from the forefoot to the heel.

 I do like this gradient look. It's just, I feel it's kind of weird that it's so light here at the forefoot and it gets kind of dark really fast.

 And I wish there sort of was a smoother gradient all throughout.
