I’m about to try the New Balance Two WXY. I got an amazing deal. Bought 3 pairs for $150 in the NB store. They are known for being very durable outdoor shoe to ball in! Can’t beat that deal!

I’m looking into buying some shoes that I would strictly use for outdoor courts.  I have a normal sized foot/width and wouldn’t be playing more than twice a week.

I have only purchased indoor shoes back in the high school &amp; aau days and almost always got Nikes.

Any suggestions would help

Outdoor Shoe Recommendations

New Balance Two Wxy. Highly underrated shoe. I’m 6’2 and weigh 215, so I understand the need for impact support and ankle support.

What’s the best hoop shoe I can get performance wise for 150$ or less that can support a bigger guy? For reference, I’m around 195lbs and muscular but only about 5’7”. Looking for impact absorption and ankle support mainly. Bonus points if they’re also stylish!

What shoe should I get?

Took delivery of my first pair of New Balance kicks this week, the Two Wxy in the Spurs Fiesta colourway. Comfy fit and good feel, looking forward to giving them a proper turn in the coming weeks.

 One of the things I will say about this model that separates it from say the YuShuai 15, Speed 8, All City 9 and even more premium offerings like the WOW8 and WOW9 is that the step-in comfort of very nice and there is no significant break-in period. Some of those other models required a real leap of faith to wear the shoe until it widened out or the pain of a sidewall piece digging into your foot subsided or whatever.

They feel less rigid than competing UA and Nike models (Embiid 1, I guess the newer Spawn modes, Curry 6/7, Kyrie 1-8), though impact protection feels similar to Embiid 1. I don't feel comfortable evaluating traction yet, it has decent bite but it also seems to have serious dust-trapping potential. One of the things I will say about this model that separates it from say the YuShuai 15, Speed 8, All City 9 and even more premium offerings like the WOW8 and WOW9 is that the step-in comfort of very nice and there is no significant break-in period.  Now aside from looks, this Tpu piece is very important since it adds an extra layer of support when you're gonna be moving laterally, so side to side movements are gonna feel real secure in these, and from what I can tell, it doesn't really seem to dig or pinch your foot in any way. So this is a very simple but effective way to create a secure environment for your feet. I think Under Armour did a very good job here, providing enough support not just for a seven foot beast and Embiid, but for everyday Joes like you and I without being too overpowering. Now, the rest of the upper is made up of this open mesh material, which honestly is kind of just okay

 Now this could be considered a good thing if you're a wide footer, because the embiid one is surprisingly accommodating for wide footers. but for everyone else, you might find that there is a little more dead space in these than you would like, particularly around the sides of the forefoot and directly behind the heel. But even then I still wouldn't recommend going down half a size because I went true to size and the fit, both length and width wise was fine. It's just that those materials they didn't snap to my foot as well as I would like

 So at the end of the day when it's all said and done for 120 dollars, I think the Embiid one has a ton of value. I mean, obviously I wish I could go out there and play in these for you guys, but all of the courts out here are still close. So everything I said here today was really just an expert opinion. But I really really do think that if you could tolerate the generic visuals of these, the Embiid one is going to be a very solid buy, especially for you wide footers out there

My son is 11 and wears a men’s 9.5 wide shoe. These shoes are a great fit for wide feet. This is his second pair of Under Armor and we will continue to buy these

 It’s pretty intense and vibrant.  I only wear these inside the gym, strictly to play ball, so I am hoping that they will last a long time as my primary basketball shoe. We’ll worth the money. Will buy again when I need to replace the ones I have

 The interior is wide enough to be comfortable and well padded to remain comfortable after hour long sessions. The bottom grip is deep and has a functional pattern that keeps my feet from slipping or skidding when driving or chasing on defense. The ankle support is solid keeping me from rolling when I land on someone’s feet and feel supported and comfortable when fully laced up high. Because I play in the post, having a supportive shoe that fits well and is comfortable, even when wearing ankle braces, is a must

After playing pick-up basketball for a year in my Costco special tennis shoes I felt it was time for a shoe that offered more stability and grip. I have very wide flat feet, so I need a shoe that will fit comfortably and not cut off my circulation. I wasn’t sure about Under Armor as a brand when it comes to workmanship and quality materials so I wasn’t sure what to expect.  These shoes turned out to be well worth the price

 The shoe is very comfortable when you first put them on but pretty soon the side of my foot started to ache. I can not pin point if its the plastic trim piece or not but it comes and goes as I play. But the real disappointment is from the traction, just not very good, there is quite a bit of slipping and just a general feel of uncertainty in the traction. These will be relegated to very limited use and I've already ordered a pair of Li-ning Wades

 So supporting lockdown was actually really good in the shoe. All right. Moving on to the weight, this shoe is 13.62 ounces, which is pretty surprising

 that's how much I like playing in the shoe. So yeah, I would definitely recommend it and also the types of players I would recommend it to is basically everyone. If you're a big guy, support is there cushion. Like I said, impact protection was pretty good and if you're a guard, it's a very responsive shoe

 A lot of people are saying it looks like a kyrie and I don't think that's a bad thing. Tell us what you guys think of the aesthetics down in the comment section below. So yeah, wrapping things up the embiid ones, guys, I enjoy playing in this. It's just a shoe that feels very responsive, very supportive and it I never really had to worry about it

 I needed to break it in just a little bit, but for the most part the bite was solid. I never really slipped out or anything. Not a lot of squeak though. Uh, after I started breaking it in a lot though, it started to squeak a little bit more, but for the most part it was a silent traction pattern
